It would be nice if it was still a local, commune-style dairy--but it's not. It was sold to a large corporation a few years ago and has become pretty sterile. If you don't hit the timing just right there is nothing to see but an...More

We didn't do a tour based on some local reviews, but it was interesting to see how they made the cheese. The kids absolutely loved the ice cream, and as per everywhere else, the people there were great!

If you love ice cream and you are around, drop in and get your Copa Grande. Two scoops of lovely ice cream pleasure will make your day. Try the rum raisins or higos (figs). But all other flavors I tried were great.

The ice cream is delicious, and this is the best price you'll find it at ($4US for 2 scoops), but they no longer do the tours of the factory or free cheese samples.

Lot's of negative nonsense on Trip Advisor about the Monteverde Cheese Factory. Go in and order an ice cream cone and you'll forget all the bad stuff :-). Great ice cream and a wide selection of locally made cheeses. Had the cheese on some crackers...More
