Welcome to the world of bats, up close, personal, and among us. I have loved watching bats flutter in the twilight, and the guided tour at the Bat Jungle facility, provided fascinating information about bats, and a chance to see them at feeding time. Also got good advice on setting up a Bat House(s) in my home yard.

The BatJungle.com opened 2006. It’s one of the BEST tourist attractions in the Monteverde area. Guided tour takes about 45 minutes 90 live bats of 8 species in an enclosure 17m (57ft) in length Exhibit features a special ultrasonic microphone that allows visitors to hear bats echolocating (biosonar) and socializing in real time … bat photo via Artifacts and Insects... This was such a great experience. You get a informational session with the history of the Bat Jungle and a lecture on bats. We loved seeing the bats in the cave. We went at feeding time to see them in there most active period. The handlers have reversed their sleep schedule so they are active during the day to enhance... More

The European born docent, who married a local, gave a well-informed and compelling story for bat conservation, namely pollination and insect consumption s well as biodiversity. Im a committed conservationist and will support this kind of effort whenever possible. The visuals include "seeing" the bats in the dark, a reversed light cycle, less interesting to me than the information imparted... More

It's a 'room' in a house that has been fixed up. Not a cave nor jungle. Take a night tour unless you want to get ripped off.

Sorry, davidm, your brief very negative comments and terrible rating on the Bat Jungle are based on entirely erroneous information. The Bat Jungle is clearly NOT a "room in a house that has been fixed up", as he contends. It was designed by myself, a professional bat biologist. The Bat Jungle is located in Paseo de Stella, a large and... More

Very cool opportunity to view bats up close and personal. After an informative talk by the guide we were taken into the bat cave where we had the opportunity to view a few different behaviours/features that we had just learned about. They have a few flashlights for viewing, but you can use your own lights (our LED flashlights were a... More

First of all we did not like the person who gave the tour. He rushed us through our lunch telling us that we wouldn't be able to catch up with them if we were late for the tour. Turns out that the tour was an hour-long classroom lesson, half of which I already knew, in a tiny little room where... More

The guide gave a good introductory talk and then we observed multiple species of bats in the "cave," Very fun. Take a flashlight or cell phone with light app to help you see the bats.

Not something you often get a chance to see in intimate setting. Very interesting from a scientific point of view as well as fun.
