No visit to Basilicata is complete without Venosa. It's a fascinating little town. The archeological area and the Church of the Incompiuta are amazing. A woman from Minutiello Tours stepped in and gave us a free tour of the house of Horace - very professional!

Venosa is a beautiful town to walk around. The castle in the main square was built in 1470 (the deep moat now a lush lawn) and the shops in the square are fronted by a beautiful covered arched walkway (the corner cafe makes good coffee)....More

There is a little bit of everything in town: 2000 years old tombs, a castle, a beautiful Cathedral rich of symbolic signs. The city is has a millenary culture of wine too.
