This temple is a little out of the way between Jodhpur and Jaisalmer. It is well worth the visit. It’s a beautiful temple with intricate carvings. We were very lucky that it was not so busy when we visited. You put your shoes in a sack that they provide and they give you a token to retrieve it after. You can keep your socks on. There were many worshippers coming and going through the temple. Photography is allowed and it’s free to enter the temple. You can make a donation if you wish. There were no curious locals wanting to take photos with us inside or in the town. It was a fresh change from Delhi.

This is a stunning and remarkably well-preserved temple. The entrance is free but a donation is encouraged to support its continued maintenance. Ask the staff to show you around for information about the history, holy figures, and beliefs and customs. Not to miss if you're passing through Osian.

Sachiya mata is our "Kul Devi" ( a protector goddess of a community of similar surnames). This is her central big temple. We had made a mannat (wish) & on its fulfilment had promised to visit this temple for her Darshan. As there were a few bank holidays towards the last week of March I thought of leaving on 28th march fir for Jodhpur so we could come back on 31st march which was a holiday & resume work on 1st April. But for some weird reason my husband insisted that we leave on Sat & hence we would visit the temple on 31st march & luckily it turned out to be the first day of Navratra. Had we tried planning it to incorporate the Navratra invariably it wouldn't have succeeded but with Mataji's grace we fulfilled our mannat on the first day of Navratra.
Post Nakodaji darshan & a few other Jain temples we had planned to reach Osiaji on Sunday by 6ish so we get the evening Aarti & we were to spend the nite there & leave from there next morning after the morning Aarti . Unfortunately we reached late & missed the Aarti but however we got the darshan very peacefully. The temple has 118 odd steps to be climbed before we get to see Mataji. Our driver just dropped us outside the temple & we rushed up. That night we spent at a sanatorium adjacent to the Osiaji Mahavir temple. There's a sanatorium in the temple premise of Sachiya Mata temple too. The temple shuts by 8pm.
For dinner we ate at this little restaurant in the lane bang opp the temple. The restaurant name is visible from outside the temple. If I remember the name correctly it's called Sachiya Mata restaurant only. The owner was extremely hospitable & made was eat with great love & care. Please note that Rajasthani food is quiet oily & spicy so pls be careful in mentioning it if you are not oily & spicy food lover. The food was super tasty & quiet cheap.
Next morning we woke up by 6ish & picked up 1.25 kgs sheera that we had ordered to offer to Mataji. We had also carried pedas from Mumbai. Apparently the sheera offering is quiet a ritual amongst the followers. Care to be taken that women who are in their periods do not cook this sheera nor women chumming themselves are allowed in the temple.
The person who is offering the sheera carries it on his / her head in the plate or a box till the top of the temple for the offering. Sheera is made to order in the temple premises but orders can be placed only in the morning post 9am for offering. Since we wanted to leave early as we had an evening train to Mumbai & had Jodhpur sight seeing left we could not wait for it, we came across, in the market this eatery called as Agrawal refreshment selling sheera out of a local residents house (in the lane opp the Sachiya mata temple). He gave us the delivery as early as 7.30am. The morning Aarti timings change twice a year. During this small navratra it changes to 8.30 am & from the big Navratra changes back to 9am.
We offered all our prayers, sweets, chunri & all suhaag & shringar items for mataji. Luckily post our darshan the queues started piling up. We offered all the prasad to the visitors there & the sheera to the cows. We also fed breakfast to 2 poor males' - 1) a small kid about 8-9 yrs old & 2) an elderly man in remembrance of 2 corresponding aged dead members in our immediate family as were remembering them too in our moments of happiness.
We thanked Mataji for all her blessings & left from Osiaji with a wish of visiting again at least once a year.

This is one of the very few temples which is deeply and equally reverred by two communities i.e. oswal jain and maheshwaries. The temple is one of the oldest constructed in north India. This is said to be constructed in 8 th century AD.
Temple is of maa Chamunda also known as Sachchiyay mata which is kuldevi of oswal and so many gotras of Maheshwaris which makes it mandatory for them to visit it in lifetime and after marriage or birth in family.
Temple premises are very big and really well maintained, managed and clean. There is very good accomodation provided by management comitee at very reasonable affordable rates. One can get A C accomodation in 100 beded international guest house and another one just at temple also.
At very subsidised rate you can get very hygenic, healthy, hot vegetarian meals in the temple premises itself. Present rate is ₹30/ yes ₹30/ per meal. Only in the evening you have to have it before sunset.
Added advantage bonus for pilgrims is good entertainment facility near railway station. There are sand dunes, desert safari by jeep and camel ride. These are best enjoyed in evening when you have spare time from religious activities. Evening aarti at 7 pm in Sacchiyay temple is a must.

We are Maheshwaris and we were told by our parents to visit our "Kul Devi" in Osian near Jodhpur. We were amazed by our experience. The temple is quite ancient but has been well maintained by the managing committee. We were impressed by the cleanliness of the temple and the facilities. It is one temple where we were not pestered by any beggars and the crowd was also quite desciplined.

The Sachiya Mata Temple is located in Osian in Jodhpur district of Rajasthan in India. The Sachiya Mata Temple is devoted to Sachi Mata, who being consort of Lord Indra also known as Indrani. The name of the goddess is Sachiya Matha. Her name is also spelled as Sachaya Mata and Sachchiyay Mata. Apart from the main shrine of Sachiya Mata there are other two places of worship devoted to mother goddess Chandi and the mother goddess Amba Mata in side this complex. Only certain family members worship the deity. This temple was built during the 9th and 10th century. However the temple compound that we see now is said to be of 12th century and since then the temple is existing without any change or alterations.
Have you heard the story of ‘Sage Dadichi’, who sacrificed his body for the sake of doing well to the world (Loka kalyana)? The weapon of Lord Devendra, the king of gods popularly known as Vajrayudh was made out of the back-bone of sage Dadichi.
Once upon a time there lived a demon king by name Pauloma. He had daughter by name ‘Sachi’. The king Pauloma supported many Brahmins, particularly Sukracharya because he was hunting for a solution on immortality. His army commander was a powerful and strong demon namely ‘Vrut’ (Vritrasura). Vrut wanted to marry Sachi. Vritrasura had the boon from Lord Shiva that he should not be killed by any weapon made of metal etc. In order to kill this demon Devendra begged sage Dadichi to sacrifice his life for making powerful weapons out of his bones, for which the sage readily agreed. His bones were said to be stronger than any metal because he had observed thapasya (deep meditation) for more than thousand years. Devendra using the weapon so made out of the bones of sage Dadichi killed Vritrasura. Sachi was in love with Indra (short name of Devendra). Indra married Sachi after killing all those demons. Thus Sachi or Sachidevi became the consort of Lord Indra.
Masti or Masthi means a stone on which certain inscription relating to local place or goddess is recorded in olden days. The Masti stones are found in many places in India which form a source of history of such places. Similarly we find Masti stones in Osian temples. But a stone inscription found in this temple gives a different story about the name of Sachiya Mata. The Jain monks called her by name Sachi (Sachi) Mata to mean ‘Real Mother.
We will see magnificently sculpted arches through which we enter the temple complex of Sachiya Mata. As we see the temple complex it consists of several phases. There are beautiful images and sculptures of Hindu deities inside the temple. Lord Varaha, the boar incarnation of Lord Vishnu, is seen at the north-end, whereas Lord Vishnu with Goddess Lakshmi is found at the east of the compound. A stone slab at the walls has full of sculptures on the western side. The temple is really an architectural beauty as well as an architectural splendour and rarely seen elsewhere in India.
Jodhpur is well developed district head quarters. There are many Hotels to provide well-mannered accommodation. If you are looking for economical or low budget accommodation doesn’t matter it is also easily available in Jodhpur.
Jodhpur can be reached by Air, Train and bus. Jodhpur has a number of hotels where you can get varieties of food items.

The temple has a beautiful history and equally serene architecture.
Read up or hire a local guide who knows the place. The temple has one main devi In center, shiva and ganesh on one side & vishnu and surya at the other side. There are 9 different temples around for the devi forms celebrates and prayed during navratri festival. Luckily I got in on an auspicious day and could enjoy an aarti.

Being a Jain family, we have been to several Jain temples but this one needs a serious facelift. For several Jain families this is a very important religious place, considering that and the fact that it's an ancient temple, it's not maintained that well.
I wanted to know about its history too, but couldn't find any such info. I am personally not happy with the temple management.

Our driver dropped us off some way from the temple, so it took a bit of finding, even with help from the local schoolchildren.
If you can ignore the modern trappings such as the safety rails etc, this is a beautiful temple. Our guide explained the temple in great detail and also the religious ceremony that was going on. I am not sure what our parish church would think if foreign tourists started taking pictures during Holy Communion!
The carvings are quite stunning, although several have been defaced by the Muslims over the centuries.

It’s great if you have decided to go sachchiyay mata . It’s simple, you should order for formal Prasad ( lapsi)
It takes 1 hour in delivery. Then take it and join well managed que. If you are not interested then can go directly for darshan. Management at temple is excellent.
