About
THIS COMMUNITY PROJECT IS NOW FINISHED. Artist Alley was a community art project that began in early 2021 and ended in November 2022 when the paintings were removed from the alley. The Municipality of Central Huron thanks everyone who supported the project over its two-year span. Featuring nearly 200 artworks made by local people, Clinton’s Back Alley Art Extravaganza was Huron County’s largest public art exhibit. It was an outdoor gallery located in the alley that runs behind Godfathers Pizza (1 Rattenbury St E) through to Repurposed Artisan Designs (79 Albert St). The paintings were displayed for two years but have now been removed as we look toward the next community project! The remaining plywood was donated to construction classes at our local high schools.

A wonderful time checking out local artists’ work in the great outdoors! The alley used to be a place I avoided, but now it’s full of colour and unique art! One visit is not enough to take it all in. I especially love the umbrella alley in the centre of the display. I haven’t had to chance to make it up during regular business days to hear the music playing while I’m there, or been there after dark to see the lights so I can’t comment on those features, but I’ve enjoyed my slow walks in the evening to check out the art! For a town that has a hard time putting together events that draw out local people and talent I was blown away by the number of pieces that were contributed. Well done!

This is an amazing find in the lovely old town of Clinton, Ontario. It is so inspiring to come across a community effort that is so engaging to young and old. The artists that painted the works on display, shaded by a hundred umbrellas, are of all backgrounds and ages. It is a continuation of the successful barn quilt thought.

A great way to display local artwork from up and coming artists! Great picnic tables to have a seat and quick bite to eat from the local bakery! Well done Clinton!
