First, it was hard to find our specific driver/guide among the many at cruise port, as he didn't have our name on a sign like the other tour operators had. We worked hard to get off our cruise ship right on time (8:15) for an 8:30 confirmed departure time. Driver had us wait at his car for over an hour while he helped organize other SGT tours. Our tour at Pink Lake was not arranged ahead of time so there were no 4x4s available there; we waited again before they finally found an alternative 4x4, but it kept breaking down, stopped for a long time in sand dunes before they could re-start it. Also, the Pink Lake was not pink at all and there is nothing interesting to see there, so not worth the time it involved. We were eager to go to Bandia Park safari, the main attraction of this tour! By the time we got to Bandia, it was getting late, so we had to skip the included Lunch altogether, and had to shorten our safari time considerably. Only had about 1 hr on safari, as the drive from Pink Lake is long and then driving in very heavy traffic back to the Port takes 2 hours, and we made it back just in time before the "all abord" time for passengers before the ship leaves. We wished we had left at 8:30 as promised, gone straight to Bandia for safari, and skipped "Pink" Lake altogether. At the Lake we just saw the salt extraction area, equipment and some salt piles. Driving the very rough sand dunes to the strip of sand at the sea was also a waste of time unless you've never ridden off-road or seen the ocean-- especially frustrating in a vehicle that broke down a few times and you sit, waiting and wondering if you are going to get going again, and if you will ever get to your safari.
