Booked the sunset horseback riding tour. Tonchi came to pick me up around the agreed time and we went to the stables which was about 20 mins drive from town.
Tonchi helped me get on the horse and off we went. I had rode horses before during holidays but previous experience is not required, as long as you can stay calm and relaxed, it's all good. We rode to the highest hill Maunga Terevaka. Got off there and had some to chill out there. It was dark when we started heading back, it was my first time horseriding at night, it was full moon that day though and I could see everything quite clearly. Tonchi was friendly and reassuring.
2 small suggestions though, first I was the only one who booked the tour that day and was grateful that they didn't cancel it. Tonchi brought her mother along, I really don't mind this and thought it was sweet for him to take his mom for a ride, but it got a little awkward as it felt a bit like I was intruding on their outing. The other thing was we started a bit late, I was there when his van came and we also started right away after arriving the stables, but the sun had set by the time we reached the peak, wish we have started a little earlier so that we could catch the sunset properly.
The horses are gentle and well taken care of. It was very tranquil riding through the forest and enjoyed the experience.
