Walking through the castle especially climbing to the top worth it. View spectacular. Curator and his dog greeted us at the entrance and was fluent in English. A must see

A small town in the province of Abruzzo, wich described as "the green heart of Italy", has its ancient Old Town on the hill. This place preserved the medieval tinge and a chamber feeling of a nonturistic route.

The climb to the tower was tricky in places but totally doable, the views were amazing both from the bottom of the tower and from the top of the tower. Well worth it.

This is very difficult to find, we would not have found it without the help of a lovely local English resident called Petrina.
It is not really a tourist attraction, it is not maintained well and can be quite overgrown in places but still worth finding.
To locate it, first, find the map (see picture) which is sited by the road, you can park by the side of this, the map is very worn and difficult to read but it gives you a general idea. With the board on your right-hand side, walk down the lane admiring the fantastic views as you do until you come to a lane with the sign 'Il Teatro 12A' (see picture) - the theatre attached to it.
Walk down this lane, the Roman remains you are looking for are behind the houses on the right. There are several houses, identifiable by the diamond bricks that the Romans used and the remains of what is thought to be an amphitheatre.
If you walk past the spring you have gone too far!!
