A couple of weeks ago, after having left Southend many years ago I returned via a coach trip to visit my schoolfriend and we came on a nostalgic trip to the park -and the Priory museum.

The ground floor museum was fascinating; the art works on the first floor were wonderful; and the third floor gave an insight to the history of the town and it's Norman motte and bailey castle.
We climbed to the top where you get a view of the surroundings and the Mound and then worked our way back down through the local history museum and the windmill history on the ground floor.

Excellent guided tour of Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome including the museums.
The volunteers knew their stuff, the small museums had enough in them to hold interest and the facts and figures were well researched.
