Definitely start your walking journey early vs midday heat (if possible).
Not my 1st visit but definitely took my time to walk around bulk of the city and not just all the tons of shopping venues.
So much to see & take in especially off cruiseship, easily walkable.

Go to El Morro first! But then find the movie theater at San Cristobel to see an overview of the history and rest your feet in an air-conditioned room!

Admission to the fort is free if you have a national park pass and for former and current military.
The half mile or so walk from the street to the entrance of the fort is breath taking.
There are a lot of steps you will encounter to see all the points of interest. There are seating areas thru out the fort. There are several drinking / thermos refill fountains available.
The gift store is located on the main level.
    Wear comfortable shoes.
    Allow about two hours.
Old San Juan is about twenty minutes away.

Nice street in Old San Juan, although it was very very crowded with all of the cruise ships in town. Some stores and restaurants and it led up the hill. Wander further back to get more charm.

We visited San Juan at the beginning of September. Wonderful weather. Very warm and humid but at the height of hurricane season we only saw a quick rain storm! The water is rough for sure. Red flags were up daily. We did swim despite the warning. Water is warm but waves are rough. Next time we will visit Isla Verde. Condado is very walkable. Bring a hat, wear sunscreen and hydrate to combat the humidity!

The umbrellas in the picture are beautiful but have been replaced with lackluster umbrellas. the street does have numerous gift shops. Highly recommend Handcraft Store at 101 C Fortaleza which has a wonderful selection of artisan items as does another shop called Puerto Rico Art & Crafts at 204 Fortaleza. There are also many eateries along the street.

We were looking for an easy place for beach access snorkeling and found Balneario El Escambròn via several Google searches. Parking was only $5 when we arrived, and lifeguards were staffing the towers making it a very safe and secure area to go with younger families. There was an amazing snorkeling area where you could see many colorful fish and even sea turtles munching on the seagrass beneath the waves. It was an amazing last day in Puerto Rico and I highly recommend this beach!

We were very impressed with this museum, the organization of different themes about the island. Most of the exhibits were interestiing, many of the pieces very well made, and the building itself was lovely and a good expo space. We had the beneift of information provided by a great guide. Highly recommended as a unique museum.

This was a lovely beach with waves gentle enough for the kids but a tiny bit overwhelming for my toddler. Ice cream man came and it was delicious!! Breezy but not overly so.

We were getting off a cruise and had a late flight out. We didn’t want to wait eight hours plus in the boring airport so we went to the mall of Sạn Juan to kill time. It was a Sunday so all the shops didn’t open until 11 am and the coffee shops opened at 10 am. My family had coffee and pastries at one of the coffee shops. Everything was wonderful. The lady at the customer service counter named Mayra was super helpful. She helped us with directory of the stores, store our luggages. We had eight big pieces. We went to eat lunch at tge Metrolpol, also a fantastic place with good food and customer service. Mayra saved the day with good tips and service
