What travellers are saying
- shelly8 contributionsBeautiful views. We did just the $10 option since didn't have a lot of time but you can also do the tour plus Japanese garden. It's a beautiful spot to take pics and just soak in the whole environment. There are restrooms inside and outside.Written August 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Dana RBayport, NY34 contributionsWe went on a private boat, what an amazing island it is. Hopefully, it will open back up soon so people can go. The last time we were there was in May 2022 and they had building material over there to rehab the place, so hopefully it will be open again soon.Written May 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - podrozniczka60New Jersey17,016 contributionsHugging the basilica, there was this building - puzzling and attracting with its strong red color and design . The staff was very friendly and inviting and we stepped in. Very interesting exhibit featuring the firefighters of Ponce. Old photos, historic uniforms, equipment of the gone-by era. The visit was quick and free but very informative.Written December 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mark ZSouth Deerfield, MA6 contributionsBest tourist spot on the Island if you not a beach fanatic. Great tour, beautiful 600 acre rain forest rather than a coffee plantation. Yes, they also have a beautiful Mill that is fully functioning. Easy drive from Ponce and up in the mountains. People were friendly and knowledgeable.Written December 2, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- podrozniczka60New Jersey17,016 contributionsWe visited the Cathedral a couple of times. First we were only able to admire it from the outside. There was no good source of information and we did not realize the 2020 earthquake damage had compromised the building.
Seeing the Cathedral surrounded by the beautiful square with impressive fountains, trees and historic buildings gives great impression.
By going to the 7AM Sunday Mass we were able to see the Cathedral inside. And indeed one can see some structural damage but the church is alive and well and it is being worked on.Written December 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There's a small museum with two rooms, one of which had clearly not been updated in years. And there's an archeological site and botanical garden with very little signage. If you're looking to spend time while in Ponce, it's worth a free visit. And there's plenty of parking.Written April 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Lie GNew Jersey17 contributionsWe walked around the Plaza, sat for coffee and ate nearby. The fountain with lions is beautiful and the entire plaza very beautiful with the art deco buildings surrounding it.Written February 17, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Raquel TBayamon, Puerto Rico155 contributionsAs explained in the description, the Vigia Cross (La Cruceta del Vigia ) is a 100-foot tall cross-shaped observation tower, located on top of Vigia Hill in Ponce. It is directly behind the Serralles Castle museum.
From its sky bridge, you have a great panoramic view of the city of Ponce, and the Caribbean Sea. If you’re afraid of heights, you may consider skipping this place. (I felt vertigo walking on the bridge and the access is through a glass elevator).
I didn’t see any gift shop or restrooms. Tickets are $15.00 and includes the house tour of Serralles Castle and the Japanese garden.Written June 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The crew was friendly and helpful. Would totally do it again.Written January 9, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - stezSan Diego, CA279 contributionsThe majority of the museum is actually closed, because apparently the building still hasn't been deemed safe by FEMA engineers. But Ronald met us at the door, and although, at first, we really didn't want a guide, I'm glad we stuck with him. He was a fountain of information about the history of Ponce, and all of Puerto Rico. So much more interesting than I thought it would be. Ronald was a pleasure to talk to. Well worth the time spent, even though most of the exhibits were not accessible.Written November 1, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
