Who owns the other Earle house, a duplex that was probably built around the time of the Great War? It's a duplex and is featured on the Town of Fogo Island home page. It's a beautiful upper middle class home and was built as a duplex. It was called "Hillview", I believe. I'm not sure which Earle family lived in it. I question whether Bleak House was in use up to 1967 since when I lived in Hillview (the smaller duplex), Bleak House was used only by sheep. That 2nd Earle house, Hillview had hardwood floors, a lovely staircase that went to the 3rd floor, a kitchen with a tin ceiling, 3 ceramic fireplaces (one in the living room, front room; and one each in the 2 bedrooms on the 2nd floor). I was told by a Miller that these houses were built from kits. Certainly believable because the carpentry and wood finishing was excellent.

Walked in and fell back in time. What a beautiful place with a wonderful lady inside who loved to talk and was very knowledgeable about the school and the area. We had a great chat!

There are four studios: the bridge studio, tower studio, long studio and squish studio at various locations. All of them are architectonically intetesting and are in beautiful locations with gorgeous views. Long studio is on the Joe Batt's point trail. The squish studio is on the eastern section of the Turpin's trail. The bridge studio is on the top of the Deep Bay trail, and the Tower studio is accesible through a boardwalk from hw 304 just before Shoal Bay. They are all worth the hike!
