At night the area is well lit and offers many nice restaurants and a local bakery to enjoy. - Camilla W31 contributionsThe 1873 Observatory is a fascinating destination that simply cannot be missed. It combines history, nature, culture, and breathtaking views into one unforgettable experience. From the exciting funicular ride to the guided tour of the various areas, we were thoroughly impressed with all the attractions. Our visit was capped off with a delightful meal and exotic drinks at the Skybar 360, and we couldn't resist picking up some lovely, unique items from the gift shop as well.Written July 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jim APortland, ME1,372 contributionsWe planned for months to hike El Faro and, by golly, we did! From the cruise ship terminal, its 3.1 miles round trip back to the ship.
Be prepared!
Of course, this is Mexico. It's going to be hot. The mountain has sheer cliffs on 2 of the side, so the only place to put the trail is in full sun. It's very steep so take your time, take lots of water and enjoy the amazing views.

He showed us historical buildings and told the stories of people we would remember. We went to the cathedral and it is beautiful. All the scenery around town is lovely. We went to the big central market and bought sandals and tomatoes. It is really an experience. We went to a silver store that was really bright and impressive. Everyone had fun and enjoyed what we were learning about Mazatlan. My heart is still there.Written March 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- 573dk9999Iowa City, IA608 contributionsOver the years we've seen dozens of cathedrals. This one is nice and clean and seems more modern than many. Worth a visit but not for spending a long time at. The afternoon sun gives a nice light display through the stained glass windows.Written April 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kimberly BGrove City, OH7,475 contributionsWe love visiting aquariums and this gave us something to do when we were in port on a cruise ship.
The price to get in was a little expensive considering the size of the place and available things to see compared to other places we have been in the US. But it gave us something to do for the day and we enjoyed ourselves.
The shows were included with the price...just know that everything is done in Spanish. So if you don't know Spanish, you won't have a clue what they are saying during the shows. We watched the bird show and it was ok. However, the macaw show outside was amazing to watch them release them and they flew all over (far away) and circled several times and came back on cue. We also watched the sea lion show which was cute and entertaining.
Our favorite area was the aquarium itself with multiple floors of sea life to see. The tanks were quite impressive. They also have a flamingo exhibit, penguins and multiple birds to see. They have a petting tank inside and you can touch the stingrays and starfish and don't forget to walk inside the bird aviary to get a close up of the parrots and macaws while they are flying above your head.
The grounds were pretty and a nice place to walk.
You can get drinks there at the aquarium area.

Great waves plus rocks and tidal pools to explore. Very serene. Loved it!Written February 19, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LanceWest Kelowna, Canada49 contributionsThis is my favourite beach in Mazatlan.
We stay in the Golden zone, but often go to Cerritos to the beach.
Either for a long beach walk, or an afternoon laying in the sun, this beach is way less crowded then anywhere else.
If you lookin for a good beach walk, you can easily walk uninterrupted for 45 minutes one way, and 45 minutes back.
There’s a few good restaurants , and trinket shops in the area also. Enjoy!!Written March 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We arrived early so waited a while; most pangas do not start around 10 am. When we got to the island there were few people there. The beach is nice. We snorkeled some. The were quite a few fish and urchins. It was a pleasant time.Written July 18, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
