wonderfully laid back, chill beach town with some cautions...in town, always felt perfectly safe, had everything needed (cool veggie stands, beach front restaurants and bars, pharmacy, pandering, just a great little town as long as u r comfortable with some level of nudity on the beach. There are resorts/bnb's up in the hills that might not be the safest. Rental car was fine for a week in town, but vandalized within a day while staying at Heven, up on the hill. Not the resorts fault, just a danger of that more isolated area. The walk into town from the hill is fine during the day, but given it's isolation and vandalism, would not want to do it at night...for my comfort, in town is the better choice. With U.S. concerns about Mexico these days, my suggestion is go, but be careful, make good choices.

Beautiful beach to watch the sunset. Make you introduce yourself to Lalo the local beach bar owner who will make you a tasty cocktail to enjoy the amazing sunsets.

Ron’s is actually no longer Ron’s.
I’m not quite sure of the new name, but it might be The Pub.
It’s supposed to be an Irish themed bar, but there’s not much about it that’s Irish, except that they always have football ( soccer ) on the TV
It’s a nice place, small, easy to strike up a conversation, good cold beers.

Booked a 90-minute massage with cupping. It's a small, quiet, serene place by the beach. There is a shower for cleaning off sand, sunscreen, etc. The therapist was very knowledgeable and skillful, and I left feeling like jelly. Bliss! Ate at the on-site restaurant afterwards and that was also a nice experience.

The only quibble I have -- and it's minor -- is about the cupping. The spa menu says the procedure is "not static, leaving no marks," but I definitely had dark red circular marks all over my back that lasted 3-4 days. This didn't bother me too much but I got a lot of questions about it! Having said that, the suction from the cupping was uniquely relaxing. I would consider doing it again, or trying the massage with hot stones, which also sounded interesting.

Great bar, interesting decor, comfy couches and best of all lots of live fabulous music almost every night. Relaxing place to get some Zen-time for yourself and great for couples to lay in each other’s arms with a margarita in hand…

We contacted Alacran Travel & Tours about 10 days in advance and arranged private door-to-door transportation between hotels in Puerto Escondido to Zipolite and then a few days later for Zipolite to Secrets Huatulco. We made arrangements via WhatsApp chat and agreed to a reasonable rate. Reconfirmed via WhatsApp the day before each trip. They arrived right on schedule for both trips, where professional and courteous. Highly recommended.
