- ashleylynn722018Santa Clarita, CA70 contributionsThe Cave and Basin was a quick and easy attraction in Banff that can be added to your trip if you have a little extra time and are interested in the history of the area and site. We took the Roam Bus 4 and our driver recommended that there was a tour every half hour and it was included in the price of admission. We took the tour and it was worth it just to have someone point out the Banff Spring Snails to us and they scooped some water out of the springs so we could touch it, the only way to touch the water due to it now being a protected habitat for the snails. Overall we spent about an hour here. Recommend if you have some extra time while in Banff, but this isn't necessarily one of the must do attractions in town.Written August 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ScubaNut099Edmonton, Canada249 contributionsThe Cosmic Ray station is nothing more than a tiny 3m x 3m boarded up shack at the top of the Sulphur mountain view point. The BIG ATTRACTION here is actually the view of the surrounding mountains/valley/town below.
I would give the old station 2 out of 5 stars and the view from there, 10 out of 5 stars!!
If you are able bodied then the walk from the gondola to this viewpoint is extremely easy. Even for elderly - it should not pose too much difficulty as long as they can go up and down stairs.
There are MANY stairs going both up and down along the route with quick a number of places to stop and view the mountain.Written October 24, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Donations appreciated. This family was a big part of Banff history. Daughter had 4 college degrees and lived in the house until her death 1994 or 1995. She set up a foundation to preserve the house and history. Amazing family.Written June 9, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
