- Travel25346533585891 contributionsBoyce-Gyro Beach Park has a Very Nice Beach. It is well maintained and has a good family friendly feel to it. Summer weekends can be overly busy. You really want to visit on a weekday if you can. If it was not so busy I would give 5 Stars without hesitation.Written April 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ileannkneelKelowna, Canada1,058 contributionsIf you want a happenin vibe and a party atmosphere, don't come here. Strathcona Beach is a smallish park tucked away in a residential area such that the tourists and party hounds don't know about it. And that's just the way the locals want it. Mostly families and couples taking up some grassy space or laying on the nice sand beach. A children's playground and washroom facilities round out the amenities... and a small parking lot. It's also good to know that the water stays relatively shallow for a fair distance... safer for little ones and the water is warmer because of it. And of course, if you get injured and need medical assistance, the hospital is right behind your back. 4 stars.Written April 18, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Samuel HCalgary, Canada434 contributionsThe family and I spent all day at this beach. There are washrooms at this location and a taco food truck during the time we were there. Across the street were condos and houses so not a lot of other things around. Parking is paid.
What we liked was that the beach was very close by to the parking with a little green space. We saw lots of people set up blankets on the beach or grass. We found a nice spot under a tree and were able to get shade for a bit before the sun moved onto us. We did bring an umbrella so that was good.
The beach was clean and the water was warmish and very shallow for quite a ways. Out of our time here, the kids spent the most time in the water and even tried to build some sand castles. There is also a beach rental where you can rent paddleboards and paddle boats.
The only issue I had was the washrooms were disgusting; doesn't look like it gets cleaned very often and there was no place to change like on other beaches.Written August 26, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
