Although my sister and I have been to this restaurant previously, this visit was a very different experience. My niece accompanied us so when we made our meal and beverage selections, we included items we hadn’t ordered before. We enjoyed the Ratler, a tasty grapefruit beer. Our food order included Pretzel Bombs and a Cheese Board. The pretzels are homemade, filled with melted cheddar cheese and a Dijon alioli on the side — very, very yummy!! The tasty Cheese Board featured locally- made cheeses, dried Pink Lady apples, pickles and focaccia bread. Although a patio was available, we opted to sit at an inside table. The Cannery is part of the B.C. Ale Trail so don’t forget to have your pamphlet stamped. Apparel including tee shirts, hats, sweaters, coats and vests are available for purchase as is their beer. Their “Back Yard” sports a food truck with many food choices.

Fantastic place. Great beer. Great food (get the vegetarian flatbread, unreal!). Great staff. They often host fun evenings like comedy or music. They’ve become one of our favourite breweries in Penticton. Definitely worth checking out.

I would highly recommend the Abandoned Rail brewery. We visited as a family of 5 adults and enjoyed their refreshing beers, ciders as well as some delicious pizzas (couple of vegetarian options, too). The premises are not big, with just a few tables inside, but plenty of tables outside, on the shaded patio, as well as picnic tables under the trees on the grass. Very casual and charming place. We all enjoyed the food, the beer and the experience.

We first tasted the Peach Cream ale in a pub in Kelowna, but when we realized the brewery was in Penticton, where we were staying we decided we had to find it! The brewery is a bit hard to find but we called and a very kind lady lead us right to it. This is a no frills tasting room, it’s just about good beer! We ended up going for peach cream ale, but loved the coconut and killer bee too! So if you just like crafted beer, friendly people at the tap, and don’t need fancy surroundings then give this a try! We would go back!
