What travellers are saying
- 20bothwellUnited Kingdom148 contributionswe stayed at the fairmont airport hotel and had a day to spend in vancouver , we caught the skytrain in, there is a few things to know, the time of day you travel affect the price an you cannot buy a return ticket through the machines so you end up paying more to get to vancouver and then have to buy another ticket to return, we found out the hard way. A lady at the car rental said you can buy a pass for the skytrain from the 7/11 stores but that depends on finding one at the time you need to. for an english speaking western country we were disapointed in the lack of transparency in costs and options, it was clean and ontime and busy but an efficient way to bet to vancouverWritten November 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RavenitoCharlotte, NC545 contributionsRecently took the train from Vancouver to Seattle. Everything was fine in my car but I heard other cars the a/c was not working. Even US Customs got on and said the car behind mine "was like an oven"... I would have been pretty uncomfortable riding in a train car with no a/c in the summer. The USB plugs seemed very hit or miss whether they were working, and they are located in a pretty inconvenient spot anyways. Otherwise everything was fine.Written September 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Felipe M1 contributionGreat services, very friendly staff and always on time. The cars are clean, there are washrooms inside, charging stations and plenty of space to sit and relax during the trip.Written November 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - WelltravelledagainMiddlesbrough, UK37 contributionsThere are three classes on the Canadian which are economy, business and prestige. We tried to get prestige but it seems you need to book at least one year in advance for prestige. We had a room on the train which was next to the shower and close to one of the dining cars. It reminded me of being on a ship only with limited things to do, but you need to plan that before you get on the train as there is nowhere to go and the journeys can be up to 4 or 5 days.
The food on the train was really good and all staff approachable, helpful and efficient. We were traveling from Calgary to Edmonton and this was from 9:30 am on a Tuesday till 9:00 pm on the Thursday.
The observation cars are really good and the views beautiful. You get a real appreciation of the differences in landscape from lakes and trees to prairie. Would recommend anyone to try this, but I will not do it again. No problems with anything but a train is a train and 3 days on any train is too much. Glad we did it as it is probably the best way to see the countryside. You can get off the train at designated stops.
The crew changed at Winnipeg and that was fine as the new crew were just as good.Written September 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
