On Skytrain Canada Line, Oakridge 41st Ave. So for tourists who don't drive this is easy access from downtown area.

Not as big as Metrotown but closer to downtown there's enough shops and eateries in an indoor setting to keep one occupy for at least few hours.

I just saw Metro Theatre’s new play The Gazebo. What a hoot! It’s a very funny whodunnit. Great performances by the three main characters, Nell, Elliot and the District Attorney. Who knew community theatre in Vancouver had this kind of talent?

The rest of the cast are just as talented as the three main stars. Special mention should be made of the tall, dark and handsome Detective guy. What a smooth and sexy voice! He should be on the big screen (if he’s not already?)

The two crooks reminded me of Abbott and Costello. Great accents. Well cast!

The theatre itself is well maintained. I especially enjoyed the drinks in the bar. Incidentally, the bartender was in the play too!

Go see this play if it’s not too late and support this great little theatre. I’ll be back.

Our group of about 16 met at JCC on a very rainy day but spirits were high as our excellent and well informed leader David led us through the streets of Oakridge. An added and unexpected perk was the spontaneous invitation by a homeowner for each of our sopping wet group to enter his most interesting and beautiful home for a peak inside. Our tour ended at Temple Shalom which may be a difficult hoof back to JCC for those less able.

It's a bit out of the way so we hadn't been here yet but we made the trip and were pleasantly surprised! Great tasting room, very comfortable and spacious. I recommend getting the 6 beer flight so you can try all their beers. We didn't eat here but the pizzas look a bit small for the price. Friendly staff and good beers!

This very expansive green space has many boardwalks which stretch along the River with tidal marshes , numerous trees , sandy beaches and interesting marine traffic on the Fraser River and with YVR Airport traffic in the background…this is an off leash dog park area and the dog walkers are very respectable to all strollers.. numerous benches are present for very scenic vistas and relaxation..some interesting tidal ripples allowed me to use Live Photo to record the River flowing

The pool is cheap. The park is lovely, with several fun play structures for the kids. We enjoyed our visit here with family.

This park, in itself, is hardly a tourist attraction. At only 4 ha, it is large enough only for typical neighbourhood amenities - tennis court, children's playground, etc. However, it connects to the river trail, which in turn appears (I haven't walked the whole thing) to connect to the trail through much of Burnaby to the east, and about fifteen minutes west to the Gladstone-Riverside Park. Could be interesting to park one car here, one car at the foot of Byrne Road, and walk from one to the other.
If someone has done this, please let us know.

If I'm looking for something different in furniture, I check the antique warehouse. Their inventory is varied and ever changing and sometime the perfect piece is there waiting for me.

Marine drive is a commuter hub in busy residential area, light rail and buses connect here. Not a huge mall, but a bit of everything - huge Asian supermarket, large well stocked liquor store, Irish pub, Thai and Chinese restaurants, cinema and various clothes shops. Handy if you're staying in the area.

The compact but informative presentation area in the basement of the community centre at 41st and Oak is not to be taken lightly. This includes actual letters, photographs, and other items from people who survived the holocaust, and came to live in the Vancouver area. I was very moved, I suspect you will be too. No photos permitted.

    - Memorial Park was and still is a place that many of my still close friends, my siblings and I grew up enjoying and hanging around on a continuous basis - part of our growing up in Vancouver - from our Sir Alexander MacKenzie Elementary School 1950's to 1960's May Days celebrated in side the oval of the running track complete with the Grade 7 girls doing the May Pole Dancing - wading in the ponds as youngsters - watching the semi-pro softball games in the Summer times in the 1960's - hanging around the old swing sets and exercise bars that are now gone - High School soccer, football and rugby practices - having to run around that way to long quarter mile running track during PE when we attended John Oliver Senior Secondary School - some of these still close friends also played Little League baseball there too - the Park had gone through a lot of changes in the last 20 or so years - picnic tables and BBQs added by the ponds - more playing fields developed - rubberizing of the old quarter mile track surface and much more - still a great pace to stop by and enjoy a picnic or enjoy some takeout food with old friends when the weather is good - Memorial Park will always be on my "great place" to visit list - give it a try - you won't be disappointed if you visit and car parking is still free!
    - ps - and please - don't tell the City of Vancouver that car parking is still free!!

Beautiful heritage buildings, a wonderful sanctuary space that is welcoming and calming, varied and always interesting Sunday services, a fine community of engaged and engaging people, and lots of activities on this busy campus. Definitely worth one visit – you might like it and come back again... and again... and again – I did!
