The AGGV is not large, but it usually has at least one or two fine exhibitions. Star of the shows this time is the "In the Flesh" exhibition, featuring a wide array of sources. The smaller exhibitions are less interesting but still worthwhile.

Beautiful grounds and a lot of history going back to the late 1800’s. There is no admittance cost but they will accept donations. This is a must stop rain or shine for everyone. The museum and the historical house is located minutes from downtown Victoria and there is free parking on site.

We just happened to walk by this gallery, with no plans to shop, but the artwork literally drew us into the shop. It's not like anything we had ever seen before, the photography appears to be 3D or backlit somehow, but it isn't! We ended up buying a piece and were amazed with the assistance we got. We now have this gorgeous art hanging on our wall and get to experience it's magic every day.

Avenue Gallery is my favourite gallery in Victoria, so when we renovated our house I looked there for the perfect piece of art for a feature wall in our home. I found the perfect painting, which the gallery owner, Heather, personally came and hung for us. Having Heather come in person to our home means a lot to us, so that this special painting by Shinah Lee is perfectly placed in its feature location. The pieces that Heather chooses for her gallery are unique and inviting. there is no pressure to buy - just super welcoming people and exceptional art in paint, glass, pottery, sculpture and jewellery. This gallery has it all!

The artifacts as well as the owner (Thomas) are a wealth of information on the history of First Nations and the Victoria area. A great collection to see. We were recommended there by the museum staff and it was well worth the trip.

This used to be named the Alcheringa Gallery. For its size it packs a punch for quality & quantity. You might find a collectible here or something just right for your decor. Even for a few minutes of artsy pleasure it's worth a looksee.

This is a one-of-a kind gallery. Chris, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable. It's a beautiful showcase of First Nations art. On Customer service, they can't be beat. I had some issues with the mailing abroad (customs office on the destination ruined some art prints) and Chris went over-board to ensure that the situation was rectified.
    Highly recommended.

If you are looking for contemporary art from emerging and established Canadian artists in a well curated gallery, Gallery Merrick is it. The art is fresh and new, the space is exciting and diverse. I love visiting this gallery.

I keep dropping in to this very accessible and welcoming gallery. It's a neat way to feel connected to the University of Victoria in nearby Saanich. Currently there is an excellent exhibit on aboriginal basket weaving called 'We Carry Our Ancestors' and in contrast perhaps, a beautiful mini show of modern designer Yolonda Skelton's clothing artistry.
Pop in for a view anytime you wish to be impressed.

Xchanges is mostly open on weekends for the public. Its a great smaller gallery showing local artists. You might get a chance to see some artists working in the studios as well. Well worth venturing a bit out of the downtown area to see a bit of real local culture.check the website to see what is happening at the time.
