What travellers are saying
- RoseSeattle, WA215 contributionsThe Stonehedge exhibit was excellent as it explained and showed much of the history. The natural history exhibits were good as their displays showed animals in their natural habitat. Their Old Town section was interesting to see. The Jane Goodall IMAX was excellent as it showed the effects of bringing nature back to life.Written September 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - eMBark TravelersWashington30 contributionsWe walked through the entire castle and enjoyed how well the rooms were staged and all the beautiful stained glass windows. The intricate woodwork throughout was stunning as well. Our favorite spots were the Billiard Room and Smoking Room.Written July 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Erin S1 contributionWe had a very short time in Victoria during our cruise stop, and this was a "must see" that we wanted to visit. Big thank you to the staff for allowing us entrance at the last minute! It was a great place to see; everyone in our group loved it, and we'd recommend it to all ages! The detail of the displays were amazing! Something for everyone of all ages! So glad we got to see this in our brief visit!Written September 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - operalover939Toronto, Canada2,936 contributionsThe museum occupies a relatively small space on Humboldt Street, having left the old courthouse on Bastion Street some years ago. It does not seem to be well-funded and is closed half of the week. However, at present it has an interesting exhibition on lighthouses on the West Coast of B.C. Even more interesting is the series of small films on the sinking of the S.S. Princess Sophia in the Lynn Canal, en route from Skagway to Victoria, in October 1918. Still the most costly maritime disaster in the North West Pacific in human terms — everyone on board, some 350 people, drowned — the way it developed makes a gripping tale. There are also some very attractive models of ships that operated along the coast over the decades.Written March 7, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - normav684Burnaby63 contributionsJudy Watson gave me a personal tour of the costumes on display. There were a number of priceless Charles Worth of Paris dresses that had been worn by the wives of the various occupants of Government House. Luscious silk creations heavily hand beaded. Glorious to look at. There is an annex that displays many wonderful military uniforms. This can keep the men busy while the ladies gasp over the ladies dresses and accessories. I had never heard about this place until a friend said I must see it since I adore beautiful fashion.Written September 7, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
