Last week, my husband and I wanted to get out into the renowned forests and natural areas outside of the city of Victoria, after we had spent several days in and near the city. The hike offered by Surfside Adventures was one of the only ones we could find, and we could fit it into our last afternoon on our visit. One of the guides, Alan A. answered our phone call and even made last-minute accommodations and change of plans for his day in order to fit in our hike for just my husband and me! We were touched by this level of service. Guide Alan A. picked us up at the Fairmont Empress and drove us to two different spots beyond the city for some hiking and exploring. We saw a forest filled with cedars and ferns, and we saw another hike with lush ivy-covered waterfalls. It was a great taste of the nature on Vancouver Island! The guide, Alan A. was knowledgeable, safety-conscious, professional, personable, and guided in just the best way to help us feel served well, to help us learn more about the area, and to have our afternoon be custom-oriented to what my husband and I were interested in seeing. We enjoyed getting to know Alan and hearing some of his story, which complemented his informative tour of the landscape and country (Canada) that is now his family's home. Hearing his love for the landscape, and getting to know someone who lives in Victoria, were benefits in addition to simply hiking and sightseeing. The custom private tour was great as well as professional, and we recommend Surfside Adventures to you, too. Thank you, Alan, for the memorable afternoon. R & R.
