- Curiosity5387251 contributionMy parents' belongings after their deaths over 20 years ago revealed a 3D painting in original frame of the original course that opened in 1893. My father would be 110 years old today so I don't know when he acquired the painting but it looks just like a picture on the opening website for this golf course.Written April 27, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - kktvicVictoria62 contributionsThe clubhouse is open to the public. We walk to this spot a few evenings each summer to enjoy a sunny patio (usually by ourselves - because the golfers prefer the indoors and air conditioning after golfing all afternoon). The sunsets are beautiful overlooking the golf course. They have great staff and a great variety of alcoholic beverages (micro-brews, varietal wines, and is well stocked with hard liquor).Written August 14, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TravelOften1968Johannesburg, South Africa547 contributionsRoyal Colwood is located outside the City, so you need a car to get there. Great course set in tall woods. Challenging and narrow course. Fine clubhouse. Great staff and service. Relatively reasonable prices.Written January 24, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Richard B18 contributionsWe actually stayed at VRBO site below the resort, but this area is gorgeous and unique, in that it is a large neighborhood that has been carved out of the side of this mountain (Bear Mountain). Where we stayed was a little apartment that was attached to a house and over a garage. If you walk down the driveway a little bit from where we were staying, the view is spectacular of Victoria and all the way across to Port Angeles, Washington.
The only drawback is that this area is somewhat secluded and you will need a car to get around in (it is roughly 10 minutes down the hill to stores and restaurants, and around 20-25 minutes to Victoria).Written July 24, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Our guide was great and the tour is a must for ghost enthusiasts or just visitors wanting to hear tales of yesteryear.Written April 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
