Great natural history museum with a strong focus on BC and it’s history - very well planned and interesting exhibit.

Beacon Hill Park is a roughly 200 acre urban park in downtown Victoria, BC. It has many diverse ecological areas with a myriad of gardens, plants, animals, and trees as well as pathways, a kid's zoo, sports areas, meadows, and even totem poles. We spent about four hours here and didn't see it all. Even a short visit would be relaxing and informative.

We hiked from the top of the park amongst the geographical diversity to the Terry Fox Statue and then along the ocean shore walkways. Everything was an adventure.

Don't miss the peacocks or the quiet solitude of the Moss Lady Sculpture.

Beacon Hill Park is a jewel and Victoria residents must ensure it is never subject to development!

The BC Legislative Building is a terrific lesson in both architecture and history. The building and grounds sparkle during the day and light up at night. This isn’t a stuffy old edifice; instead, it brings the history of BC to life from portraits of BC legislators to murals on the ceiling.

We spent about 1.5 hours looking around and then had a delightful lunch in the old school dining room. Don’t miss the Legislature’s dining room, likely the best in the city, even if you have to cut back on seeing the Legislature itself.

The grounds are thoughtfully landscaped and the statues from a bygone era are exceptional. There are free tours of the building however, a self-guided tour is very informative.

We visited just after Queen Elizabeth died and the Legislature had a tasteful memorial with the opportunity to prepare a letter of remembrance. The many photos of Her Majesty taken during her visits to BC and the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Window stained glass window were poignant given her passing.

Walked briefly down to fishermans wharf. It was off season but still very busy with people.
Passed by flowers and holly growing.
    Public bathrooms available.
    Water taxi.
    My second time being here.
Floating houses now have their walkway labelled "do not enter"

Beautiful drive. Some very beautiful homes, especially in the Uplands area. There are deer everywhere and not at all afraid of humans. All drivers are very polite and pedestrian street crossing is very safe! We saw three separate Pianos outside in various areas. There are all-painted differently from the others and in working order.

Miniature World consists of many different dioramas, model replicas of things such as historic London, circus life, doll houses, the tall ship era, fairy tales, Camelot, and the railway coast to coast in Canada. By and large, the detail and workmanship is excellent throughout.

Project yourself mentally into the dioramas and you know what it must have felt like to be there.

The best exhibits in my view were the BC portion of the model railway, the extensive circus, the old cities and ships, Camelot, the auto diorama, and the dollhouses. There was a tremendous amount of skill demonstrated by the creators. The varied lighting was interesting.

The worst part was the space exhibit when you enter; it was inferior to the others and made a poor first impression as did the dark and unimaginative foyer. The other downside was excessive room given to world war 1 and 2 dioramas; they were nicely constructed but did not really fit the overall theme of the rest of the displays. The order of the dioramas needs improvement.

Was it worth spending time here? Yes, very unique place but you have to enjoy dioramas. Would I go back? No, not unless there was some new material. Was it a good value? The tickets should have been lower cost but still reasonable.

We walked round the coast to these breakwaters which are amazing. The views are beautiful as the sun goes down.we even saw a cruise ship arrive just before dark. It didn’t stay long as it had disappeared by 9 am the next day when we went whale watching!

A small but beautiful garden with a handful of short paths and loops as well as peaceful places to sit and enjoy. Admission by donation makes this a really great affordable stop while in Victoria (bring cash if you wish to leave a donation).

I recommend the Coho. The service is always good. The Black Ball ferries employees run an efficient operation, and a lot of us rely on it. In particular, when driving between Vancouver Island and "points south" (e,g, Oregon and California), the Coho allows motorists to skip the heavy I-5 traffic through greater Seattle, and instead meander along the more relaxing Hwy 101 from Port Angeles to Olympia. Yes, the Coho often does park vehicles tightly on the car-deck, but this represents proper concern for the need to be thrifty with resources. I feel that the fares charged by Black Ball are reasonable, and that their management deserves credit for keeping the business on a sound footing.

If you're going to go to chinatown, get a map. We went during the lantern festival and had a blast, but it's because we knew where we were going. Come up with a plan and go from place to place as the town itself is pretty run down with lots of homeless people.
The restaurants are amazing the owners are super friendly and you can find just about anything you want there.
