The Inner Harbour is a lovey area. We took a walk all around for a couple of hours and really enjoyed the place. Full of shops, restaurants, gift and tourist type of shops and the views are absolutely wonderful.

Really enjoyed the exhibits and IMAX movie. Highly recommend visiting. I hadn’t been since the 1990s and wow, have there been some great improvements. This is still the only museum where I’ve seen a woolly mammoth. Be sure to catch an IMAX movie while you’re there,

Be sure to read all you can to gain a better understanding of the family dynamics and their legacy. The castle nicely restored.

So it looks like something in a storybook, tons of fish and sea animals but the favorite by far is a little seal who has made it home. He comes right up for pets. The shops are amazing and people are so welcoming. As a resident of BC, this lives up to our reputation. (Most things here are very over rated) There is an attached park and playground for the kids. Simply 10 out of 10 for me.

I hesitated over whether to visit but am very glad I did! This place is a little ridiculous, very whimsical, and overall a great experience! There are approx. 85 different dioramas and models, ranging from the space age (the first room, which made me think of a cheap sci-fi show), to war-times (the standard Civil War, etc. dioramas but some truly stunning WWII recreations of bombed-out cities), the history of Canada, fairy-tale land, and everything in between. The dioramas were done by various people so range in scale and style, and were overall just really interesting. The entire place is set up with a carnival-type feel, which suits the atmosphere perfectly.

Really enjoyed our stay that the Empress. Spacious and clean room with a view of the Parliament. The hotel Christmas decorations were lovely and made for a festive feel. Be sure to stop at the Empress bar to enjoy the famous Empress Gin or a non-alcoholic beverage.

The walk (self guided) through the gardens is wonderful and full of beautiful plants of different sizes and shapes, all compressed into one acre in a residential area. The history is better laid out in the web site, but both the husband and wife were interned during WWII in quite different places and different circumstances. They had known each other before the war. They met again after thinking the other had died, and married and spent their time building their garden and their house. The house is quite revolutionary for the interior design at the time (see the dining room pictures) and being in the house is a mixture of pure domestic matters (period tiling in the bathroom), modern for the time design elements (indirect lighting in the dining room) and china from that era when they lived there. Our timing was at the end of the afternoon and we missed the opportunity to have tea and a snack there, but it's clear it would have been a lot of fun. Our snack was at the nearby DemiTasse, but that's another review.

In a city known for its gardens, the Government House Gardens remain basically unknown. Maintained by volunteers, these gardens are lovely, diverse, and inspiring. A guided tour is worth the expense, and I can recommend Arthur and Leslie as guides with great knowledge and a passion for the gardens.

Really nice place to get out and walk around. We saw float planes flying overhead and a cruise ship passing by. It was very windy and kind of cold - I was glad we dressed in layers and had hats. Definitely recommend to stop by and check out.

We walked up and down this street for a couple of hours and absolutely loved the experience. It's a wonderful area with many things to see and the views are magnificent. There are many shops to visitt as well and do some window shopping, or actually buy things.

The performance of Osvaldo Golijov's opera Ainadamar is the reason for the excellent rating. Fine performances throughout of a notable modern work. The Royal Theatre itself rates a very good rating. It's a classic movie palace of a century ago and never really meant for opera. The pit is too small and shallow, for example. Still, it serves quite nicely.

Overall good experience. We rode on with two motorcycles to do a tour of Vancouver Island. A couple of notes:

    * the ship does some rolling during the crossing — there are wooden blocks to support the bikes and ropes to tie them down — use those!
    * my wife is sensitive to motion and was pretty queasy during the crossing. They do sell Dramamine on board in the cafe (and six kinds of beer for those not bothered by the rolling.)
    * our WA enhanced drivers licenses were enough to enter Canada. We brought passports just in case but weren’t needed.
    * unlike WA State Ferries, you can’t return to your vehicle during the crossing — bring all you need with you.
    * while you’re waiting in PA, check out Welly’s Fruit Ice Cream at the Wharf adjacent to the ferry — delicious!
