It helped me understand how Whistler is different than Vail, for instance, and contextualize what Whistler is specifically known for. I like the bird, geology, and cultural parts. You can sit in one of the first gondolas, and it makes a great photo opp.
It’s pretty quick to visit, maybe 30 minutes. The museum is free, and works off donations. Luckily they accept credit card donations, so currency was not an issue. I did deduct one star because there were a couple of funny things with the exhibits. The geology exhibit prompted you to look through a stereoscope but there wasn’t one. Also, there was an Olympic torch, but you couldn’t really get it out because of how a TV was mounted. There also seemed an over-emphasis on a WHistler-themed comic strip. Not sure why that would be quite so prominent.
MA - WARNING. Right when you walk in the lobby, there are posters of the famous whistler hippie photo where the ski bums (both guys and girls) are totally naked. Nothing is blurred. There was also a book cover of bare-bottomed girls on skis. Just this gift shop area was not ok for kids. Everything else within the exhibit seemed ok.Written March 13, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Right off the main highway so easiest by car. Fun area for kids. Also the hockey arena is right there as well.Written May 28, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- rick j2 contributionsYou will feel welcome at this intimate and friendly pub. Knowledgeable and welcoming, friendly staff. Cozy ambiance and outside seating available if you take your dog. Well worth the trip to Function Junction to enjoy properly made craft beer.
Only snack food available but food alternatives are nearby including Functional Pi serving the best pizza I have had in years.Written May 31, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You get hushed for whispering. However it is worth the experience.
Bistro is ok. Not relaxing because it's at the check in lobby so it doesn't feel like a part of the thermal journey.Written January 21, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
