We really enjoyed our stay in the Rustic Cabin. Nestled in the trees it felt like we were in another world. We sat outside and tended our fire pit enjoying some red wine! The room was great with a water fountain , kettle and coffee machine. The bed was comfortable with good pillow options. While the park is nestled between the Trans Canada highway and the rail line, the room was well insulated and there was no impact to us overnight in fact we slept later than we usually do! It was a bit boggy and muddy due to recent rains and the site is obviously going through an expansion with construction of additional cabins underway. Once this is complete it will be even better.

This was a nice little reprieve from the tourist trap town of Whistler. It’s about 20 kms away and when we were there it was very quiet and peaceful. The trails are not treacherous and the views and smells of nature are exactly what you expect to see in British Columbia.
I could’ve stayed here all day. There was no entry fee when we were there, not sure if that’s the norm.
If you’re in Whistler take a break here.

We did not ski but still enjoyed our ride on the Whistler Village gondola to Whistler mountain very much. Even though the peak-to-peak gondola connecting to Blackcomb mountain had just closed one day before! The views were fantastic and the cappuccino at the Roundhouse lodge eas great.

The Joffre Lakes trail is a stunning hike, beautiful mountain scenery and suited for medium fitness. Lots of uphill. Definitely don't miss out on the third lake. And watch for cheeky greyjays who will snatch your food. Daypass is required.

Friendly folks at the passivhaus (got lessons and rentals there too) and a beautiful day — mostly went around Lost Lake because we are beginners but lessons made it easy and fun.

During our travels in BC we endeavoured to support and learn about indigenous first nations. The story of colonisation is the same over the world, but it impacted on us just how extreme the loss of culture, language, land etc is in Canada. The centre provides some background on this but it also delivers a positive hopeful message about reigniting lost traditions, and addressing wrongs. So go, it can be confronting for us non natives but we have a responsibility to be educated.

The Audain provides an oasis of quiet in the bustle of the Whistler ski resort. Its gorgeous building houses an eclectic collection of art by First Nations as well as contemporary modern art. Very nicely presented in beautiful light. I loved in particular the paintings by Emily Carr.

The easy/better way to get to the train wreck is to turn off Hwy 99 at Cheakamus Lake Rd then go right on Legacy Way and turn right onto Janes Lake Rd to either parking lot. Go to sign for Train wreck follow trail & sign. Go over suspension bridge and your there.

Loved all aspects of this trail as a hiker and runner.
However one tiny Downsideto tranquility is the deluge of bikes. Fast moving electric bikes, crazy youths on mountain bikes and unsteady tourists cycling for first time in their lives.
All of the above, going too fast, churning up dust, driving crazy and not being respectful to other cyclists and walkers.
To avoid the deluge, go out early. Running at 0630 am no cyclist at all, walking after 10am they seem to come from every direction down from varòus tracks taking out less able walkers.

Nice and has a beautiful view. The bridge feels secure and steady. You get to have the opportunity to see unique views of the mountains and lakes.

Went with my girlfriend, had a great time, we were both beginners but the staff cater to all abilities.

The chaps on duty when we were there were fun, joined in and made sure we had a nice time.

    Highly recommended.

We did the half-hike (to the lake and back) on a beautiful sunny, cool day. We did the detour to the river (5 mins) and it was definitely worth it! The hike took us about 3.5 hours in total and we're not in the best shape! The views of the lake were stunning and it was great to get to sit by the shore and take in the views at our leisure. Highly recommend!

Want to channel your inner biathlon rifle shooting energy? A Biathlon Rifle Shooting experience at the Whislter Olympic Park will satisfy this desire. We went up on a sunny Sunday to be shown how biathletes shoot their 22 rifles at distant targets. With the demo done, it’s time for you to follow their lead and fire away at the targets. You are given the option of choosing a wide or narrower target. I did pretty well on my first round, then moved to the narrower target…it was more challenging...have to keep your sighting really steady.
It’s interesting to hear the guide relate of the routine the biathletes go through. Another interesting thing is that the positions visitors shoot from are the one closest to the wind blocking wall. These are the priority ones for the athletes would compete to get, as the ones farther away from the wall would encounter more wind, which can affect the shooting.
The Biathlon Shooting is done in a social distancing manner. Disc Golf is also offered. The Biathlon experience is offered Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday until August 30th. There is also a winter Biathlon shooting experienced offered.
After our shooting experience, we hiked around, catching a look at the ski jump set-ups. The big bonus was walking around in the fresh alpine air.

This was a great experience, however with the prices being quite high, for our family of 14 there was no group rate to help in reducing the cost. Once on the mountain majority all of the eateries were closed....
