What travellers are saying
- Bill1 contributionI have been on polar bear tours with Discover Churchill tours twice. On both occasions, the guides in the field were very knowledgeable, helpful, and also insured our safety at all times. The vans were warm and clean with sliding doors on both sides for quick exit. Lodging and meals we’re excellent with the tour company managing the details for us. They also booked our rooms in Winnipeg and flights to and from Churchill so I had few details to plan on my own. While I saw polar bears on both trips, my recent November trip was amazing with many polar bears daily. I would highly recommend owners Alex and Drew and their guides to anyone who wants to see and photograph polar bears and other wild creatures in Churchill.Written November 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Patrick TSydney, Australia30 contributionsI joined the Great White Bear tours with Natural Habitat Adventures (NHA) as I joined from Australia. I was with the Tundra Lodge Adventure for the period from 25 - 30 October 2024. It was a truly amazing experience which I will cherish for the rest of my life. Not only did I saw the polar bears (lots of them), I also saw the Northern Lights ! The team at NHA was fantastic from the minute I arrived until the last minute I left from Churchill. The team was really professional with excellent customer service from get go. The group of travellers with me at the Lodge were all really friendly and nice and the expedition leaders, Fiona Galbraith & Anthony Mallinson were most caring, helpful, courteous, passionate in what they do and engaging throughout our tour. I also went on the helicopter tour. I strongly recommend the tour to anyone who is looking for a lifetime experience and adventure. Of all the travels I have done, this is no doubt one of the most memorable and interesting 😊 Thank you to the NHA team and the expedition leaders and my fellow travellers in the Lodge, I miss you all !!Written November 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CherylDaleBillericay, UK295 contributionsWow, what a trip! Having booked 9 months beforehand, we were so excited for this. We were Tour 23 with Heather as our guide. She was an amazing tour guide; she was friendly, very knowledgeable, made sure we were safe at all times while in Churchill and kept us on schedule perfectly. And she put up with a lot from our boistrous group that had never ending jokes!
Jim our buggy driver was fantastic; he spotted bears out of nowhere and oh his stories - he was extremely entertaining, we loved him.
Obviously the highlight was seeing the polar bears, but going around the town of Churchill was really nice and definitely worth being on the itinerary.
We received outstanding hospitality and service from everyone we encountered - the drivers we had, the various servers for all our meals and the talks we were given. Everyone was just so friendly.

Caleb was amazing: so friendly, personable, and very knowledgeable. The food/drink was amazing. And the northern lights were active much of the night. Caleb knew exactly where to go to see them the best. Again, this is the best tour I’ve ever taken. Anyone who comes to Churchill in the winter to see the lights should definitely go with Caleb at Nanuk Operations.Written February 10, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - marcip2009Russell, Canada8 contributionsOur guide Adam was very patient in our search for belugas and it paid off. He really seemed to love his job and know a lot about belugas and the ocean. The zodiac itself was cool to be in and the belugas following us were the icing and the cake!!Written September 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TravellingNZkiwiAuckland, New Zealand73 contributionsMassive shout out to Sue M, Rob and Kelly and the rest of the LB team for creating a life changing experience.
From the very first email you knew you were in great hands with Sue (lovely to get to meet her too at checkin!), looked after every small detail.
Rob and Kelly you were awesome, loved your stories and passion for the polar bears and environment!
It's hard to put into words how WOW this experience was - two words 'life-changing'.
To have the privilege just to sit and watch the polar bears for hours - what beautiful, beautiful special animals.
Lazy Bear team definitely have everything covered. Highly recommend and we'll be back!! This time in Spring/Summer to see the Beluga whales and bears.Written December 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AliWest Midlands, UK27 contributionsA good trip to get a feel of the tundra landscape. Our driver guide was excellent, full of knowledgeable facts and anecdotes. Lots of birds seen with stops to photograph and look out for tundra fauna. Sadly no mammals on our trip.
Buggies are comfortable with good internal and external vision. Outside platform high and Barrie’s surround it. Toilet on board.
Lunch was excellent- soup, sandwich, cookie and coffee. Vegetarian wrap prebooked.
Great trip to an area you couldn’t access alone.Written August 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Our pilot was very informative and spotted over 15 bear and then circled so that everyone had the perfect photo opportunity. - magedmontonEdmonton, Canada66 contributionsGerald and Colin went out of their way to make sure we had the best experience we could. Gerald took us out shortly after we arrived on the train and we had bear sightings. I was just overjoyed. We went out several more days with them and then we went to the dog yard and had a wagon pulled by dog ride and spent some quality time with the dogs. Our final night in Churchill we had the extreme pleasure of going to Bluesky's dog yard and watching the Norther Lights. The dogs played their part in this experience by howling along as the lights danced across the sky. What a great way to end our adventure.Written November 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Joe GLondon, Canada41 contributionsWe went on an amazing and informative tour today with our guide Leroy. He is local, born and raised in Churchill, and had great insight into the history of the community and area. With his vast knowledge and experience he was able to find all the great spots and we saw over a dozen bears today along with a silver fox. I’d take a small tour like this, over a huge group tundra buggy tour, any day. Highly recommended.Written November 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Nicholas FGibraltar22 contributionsAn incredible five days filled with numerous polar bear sightings.
Our guide, Andy, was exceptional. He consistently made every effort to position us optimally for taking photos. Additionally, he worked hard to ensure we felt comfortable during our time in Churchill, making restaurant reservations on our behalf and driving us wherever we needed to go.
Apart from the incredible number of polar bears, we also saw cross foxes, red foxes, Arctic hares, and ptarmigans. This was definitely a trip I would encourage anyone to take if they want to experience arctic nature up close.Written February 4, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Fantastic food (loved 6pm appertisers), comfortable rooms with ensuites. Every day an adventure with the Wildlife almost close enough to touch. - Luke_DarleneWinnipeg, Canada56 contributionsIf you get this unique opportunity don’t pass on it. Alex gave us a birds eye view of Churchill, the tundra, boreal forest and the Hudson’s Bay. Lots of nature and wildlife. Nothing like the view of bears, belugas and caribou from above!Written August 6, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ThonOttawa, Canada765 contributionsWe took their full day polar bear tour on the last day of our visit to Churchill. There was just my wife and I in the truck. Unfortunately the weather was pitiful - windy and rainy and clearly the bears were all hunkered down - didn’t see any. But we did see an Arctic hare and got good pictures. Our driver/guide Chris did his best and took us down every side road I think to see everything in the area, so it was at least Informative.Written October 17, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
