About 1.5km walk from the road, beautiful view and nice lighthouse. The automated light was on and turning even during the day. A bald eagle flew overhead quite closely while looking out on the bay.

Not a particularily historic lighthouse but the views and nature make up for it here. Mind the steep cliffs in front and the loose rocks though. Several people have fallen in the bay and at least 1 has died as a result of hiking down the trail in front to get closer to the ocean vista's...

When on a cruise ship, sailing in and out of Saint John, you may notice this abandoned island just outside of the city port. This place was designated a national historic site in 1974 and features an abandoned house and lighthouse.

Its real claim to fame is that it was the very first quarantine station to be set up in North America in the early 1800's - almost a century before Ellis Island. The lighthouse is said to be Canada's third lighthouse and later on had the prestige of being operated by a steam powered fog horn.

I'm not sure why this is separated as something to see. When you are in the states, the lighthouses have some altitude to them. This was small and an appropriate signal. I doubt any of the ships would miss it as the straight coming in require assistance to navigate via tugs.

This sight is abandoned and in need of upkeep but a worthy destination if you enjoy hiking with a purpose and historical sites bring a lunch
