What travellers are saying
- Heidi F433 contributionsNot much of a farmers market when we came around lunch time on a Saturday in June.
Outside there were maybe two stands selling plants, one or two with a small assortment of veggies and then indoors food stalls and handcrafted / homemade goods.
It was still worth having lunch and I must say I had the best Shawarma so far!
Be prepared to be entirely undecided food wise because it’s all different and all mouthwatering.Written June 18, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ChaitanyaCambridge, Canada1,453 contributionsMain mall for the city. Works well to spend a day or afternoon here. It has shopping, restaurants and gets crowded on the weekend. The buses are right at the entrance, so makes it easy to arrive here using transit system tooWritten August 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Debbie SMontreal, Canada51 contributionsAlexis' art is lovely. She offers space in her studio for other potters as well which must speak to her character as an artist. We ate from her plates at Raymonds and now have a bowl at home.Written July 30, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JoBAncaster, Canada1,554 contributionsThis is a pleasant three story gallery in a previous house. The art work is beautiful and largely focuses on Newfoundland by artists that are local and from away. There is also artwork with themes from off the Island.Written September 24, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - anne murphytoronto35 contributionsLester's Petting Farm does not practice animal welfare, especially as regards their pigs. Today I witnessed young pigs in a small pen up to their ankles in mud and their own excrement rooting for food in their own filth. Pigs are naturally clean animals who, if given the space, will not soil their eating and living areas. These intelligent animals have no dry area to retreat from the mud and if they also sleep in that muddy pen, one can only imagine the awful lives they lead 24/7. The adult pigs fared no better in their muddy pens. Pigs will wallow in mud for sun protection but no pig would prefer to live in the kind of filth and stench they are subjected to at Lester's Farm. Currently they have a new litter of piglets and the mother and babies are in a dry pen with clean straw. Lester's is encouraging the public to come meet these adorable piglets. the truth is those piglets will go from a clean hygenic environment to the one I just described once they have grown out of their value as very young piglets. Truly inhumane practices there.Written August 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- JoBAncaster, Canada1,554 contributionsAn absolutely gorgeous gallery of paintings by renown artists. I especially loved the paintings by CJ Roy and how they portrayed Newfoundland life in bright colours.Written September 24, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NHjoSaco, ME15,366 contributionsMaybe because it was the off-season when I visited, there really wasn't a lot to look at in this gallery, and what there was didn't really appeal to me. It's a personal choice, but I was surprised that there was so little art on display.Written June 7, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michael IFayetteville, GA50 contributionsPrint artist John Andrews has created cooper and linocut prints that celebrate things Newfoundland in creative and humorous ways. I purchased a linocut print spoof on an old Newfoundland postage stamp that includes a puffin in uniform. Recreations of beautiful pre-confederation Newfoundland coins also caught my attention with delight. John and his artistic colleague are typically behind the front counter engaged in their ongoing artistic pursuits, prepared to explain their respective techniques to patrons. Though I stumbled onto this fascinating studio, I'm thankful for the opportunity to visit.Written July 17, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
