Saw this & most of downtown with a local on her free weekend walking tour. Really appreciated her insight into the background of Terry Fox & why it's so important to Canadians

Even a visit during the day is a worthwhile experience for a bite to eat, a drink and taking in the art and design of this small part of the city. Get there early in the day and you may see the 'clean up" from the party the night before.

Another stop on our free walking tour, it's a bit of a hike from the cruise port, but glad we got to see this historic neighborhood & thrilled that our guide, Amber's able to give us a lot of history & information about it

Wow, wow, wow. First night of arrival and what to do? Buy tickets to a show through Spirit of Newfoundland and get screeched in afterwards.

    NO REGRETS WHAT SO EVER!

The meal, the entertainment, the ambiance, the kindness of the staff - remarkable and beyond words.

Being screeched in by Peter, cannot say enough how fortunate we were to “fall into” the Spirt of Newfoundland. Peter was so confident and quite the presenter of “why” and “early beginnings” of the history of screech and being screeched in. We were enthralled with hearing the history. Peter is the pinnacle if you would like to be screeched in.

We want to do it again, just for his presence, his embracing nature.

Don’t miss a show or this opportunity to be screeched in with the Cadillac of inductors!

We stayed across the street from this beautiful local park. It has a pool, baseball field, skating and picnic areas. It seems popular with neighborhood residents and is a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee or afternoon snack.

Our ship was unexpectedly in St John’s for several days.
Although the office was deluged by our passengers, they were able to deal with all our enquiries in a helpful informative way. Extra staff came to assist and distribute maps leaflets and personal advice. Help was given to ensure we could use local buses with the correct currency.
The Wi-Fi was so useful after days at sea.
Everyone loved St John’s as a result.
    A big thank you.

It was great to swim at the Memorial pool while I was here. The cost to get in is $4.85 - and last yeapr it was $2.50 and the hours have been greatly reduced - with the swim from 12:00-14:00, Monday to Friday completely done away with and the hours are now very limited. Last night for example, there was swimming from 8:30-9:30 pm.- not great when you swim for an hour. But the pool is fine, not great, but fine and I prefer it to the Acquarena, and there are lockers - bring your own lock - and lots of hot water.

This is an impressive War Memorial that is very well maintained. Great place to wander and reflect on the various wars that have occurred and be grateful for those who sacrificed all for others. There are other memorials to check out in the City as well that are a little smaller.

Great place to explore when wandering the downtown area. Right on the waterfront, it has storyboards explaining a lot of the history of the area. Also across the War Memorial so worth checking both out while there.

This Gallery has a great variety of art with a great owner who is very knowledgeable of the work she has to offer. She is an easy to deal with lady that also gives back to the community. Great place to find that special piece of art your looking for.

It was amazing that a wooden church built in 1836 survived great fires and storms. The vision of this church is to be an Enduring Beacon, and it certainly is. The pews are from early 1800's and still have painted number plates on them as pews were once rented by families based on their size, and some families have used the same family pew for many generations (although renting of pews ended many years ago). The stain glass windows also have history and the one on the altar is in memory of the same child as the statue in Bowering Park. I was fascinated with this beautiful church, its architecture, and history. I also recommend visiting Commissariat House located directly behind the church, which also served as the church rectory for many years. There is also no charge for tours which is a nice bonus, but we did leave a donation after being so impressed by our tour guide.

I visited a few art galleries in St. John’s and this one was my favorite. Really great selection of art and artists. Definitely stop by!
