We found out about this place on another travel related website whilst researching what to do whilst in St.Johns, where we had 2 extra days added whilst the itenary caught up with us.
We wanted to take the hop on / hop off bus, but that had finished for the season around 3 weeks previous, so we took a taxi from the cruise port costing $12 one way,
it was windy when we got to the top, but we were fine with that, found the signposts to all over the world including the place in Cornwall, UK, where Marconi received the signal marking the 1st trans atlantic phone call from.
There is a celebration gun on the hill normally fired at 12 noon in season, luckily for us there was some visitors from Ireland and they fired the gun especially for them, twice.
We went into the tower to see the history of that phone call and I climbed on to the roof, before seeing the souveniers in the gift shop.
We walked back down to the city stopping off at other places en route.

This is a must see for a few
    Good reasons.
First, the historic happenings here are astounding. I never heard anything regarding the goings on here during WW 2.

Second, the ocean waves crashing along the rugged coast line is fantastic. You haven’t seen waves till you’ve seen them here.
The only drawback was the parks Canada bathrooms and cafe were closed. Unbelievable!

We visited this venue on day 3 of an unscheduled 3 day stop in the city, having arrived 2 days earlier than planned.
It does have a stop for the local hop on / hop off bus outside, but this had stopped at the beginning of the month, so its either walk up the steep hill or a taxi from the town centre.
Very interesting inside on the 4 floor building, we were to stop for some refreshment in the cafe but the waiting queue was up to 1 hour.
Best advice is upon entering, go to the top floor and work down to the ground level and allow a lot of time to absorb all the history here.

What a great city. Loved the people. So kind and friendly. Top three experiences:
    1) Quidi Vidi - historical little neighborhood. Great food, art and walked around the lake.
    2) Signal hill. Great views.
    3) great eats and bars with music (especially The Ship for music and atmosphere )

Even a visit during the day is a worthwhile experience for a bite to eat, a drink and taking in the art and design of this small part of the city. Get there early in the day and you may see the 'clean up" from the party the night before.

Another stop on our free walking tour, it's a bit of a hike from the cruise port, but glad we got to see this historic neighborhood & thrilled that our guide, Amber's able to give us a lot of history & information about it

We popped along from our cruise ship. The pub was busy but we got a warm welcome. We had a fabulous time doing the screeching ceremony. We learned a lot about the traditions. Everyone who visits St John’s should go to this bar. I was smiling all the way back to the ship. Maybe that was the rum 🥰

The tour was so good , we only ventured a couple hours a few days out of St John’s but what we saw was absolutely beautiful . Our guide, Dave Welshman was amazing . He entertained us and was a wealth of information (both for the tour and for doing things on our own ). I would highly recommend this tour and if you get Dave as your guide , even better !

Was in Twillingate and embarked on Iceberg Quest tour on 7/16/23 and had a fantastic tour. Barry Rogers was the skipper and Roy and Sally the crew. We saw lots of icebergs and had a magnificent experience. Barry was very knowledgable and his commentary was informative.
Would highly recommend this tour company.

We arrived in Newfoundland with absolutely not knowing what to expect. We did know that we would wrap up with a tour before departing. We had no clue on who to book with or what to anticipate especially we travelled in late October.

While walking along Water Street (oldest street in Canada) we walked into Legend Tours. From beginning to end the experience was true “east coast” style with a touch of its own flavour. The greeting, the ending makes us want to go back.

The tour was Cape Spear, Petty Harbour and Signal Hill (yes many place in between!) and Brian was a dream. The land is entrenched in history and he kept the whole tour in awe, not only of the landscape, but the historical content that he so confidently spoke about.

Great tour, great guide, excellent service and the cost….can’t be beat. Second to none dat der Legend Tours, I’d say b’ye.
