Wonderful visit for our family of 5. Kids enjoyed the dress up (free in children's area), working blacksmith, animals and all of the costumed actors.
You can also watch children dancing, visit a blacksmith/forge, dine in a restaurant, observe a lacemaker at work, stroll along the beach, participate in a guided tour, and attend special events and celebrations!!

Cabot Trail

But more importantly, the views... Breathtaking views, great to drive too, loads of windy, narrow roads to negotiate and scare the kids with!
We came back to do the trail again with our two young children who are 5 and almost 2. The views are stunning, the hikes are great, the little eatery we stopped at had delicious food and the people are friendly.

#4 of 243 things to do in Cape Breton Island
The museum provided vivid picture of the impact of the coal industry on life in Cape Breton, with great insights into labour politics, economics, and - most importantly - the life of the miners and their families.
From working in the mines (starting as a child) to now giving tours of the mines - he is truly a wonderful and extremely experienced miner.

#21 of 243 things to do in Cape Breton Island
For decades, Dingwall families live on St. Paul Island in the Bay of St, Lawrence twenty-five miles off the coast, until the lighthouses were decommissioned.
I grew up as a young child on St. Paul Island so to see this museum with my parents and grandparents listed as lighthouse keepers was very touching.
