Don't miss it! We went specifically for the Maud Adams collection and it did not disappoint. Her house was her canvas and it is now on display (although not in a frame). Lots of her art to see and pictures of her, too. Great gift shop, too.

We had a few hours so headed over. Wished I had known that Saturday is a better market. After 30 minutes we were finished

We came to the market on Friday, but once we got there, we found out it was not open. It's really just open on saturdays and Sundays, and the other information on the internet is incorrect.
We returned on Saturday and bought several things, like homemade jam, a giant cinnamon roll, and cheese. They had other things like flowers and bath salts and jewelry and honey, a good variety of things at this market.

When we were walking back from the market and got onto the boardwalk, we found several little vendor houses and got some really delicious hot sauce from a company called nurple. It actually had flavor, not just heat.

When the film came out our friends from Florida were here so we stopped in so they could see the maud Lewis Exhibit. Very impressive and well done.

Visiting on a Friday afternoon, I stopped in the adjacent Alexander Keith’s Brewery for a little Irish Anesthesia. Several buildings adjacent to Keith’s have been enclosed by glass ceilings to form an atrium of sorts. There are shops and other specialty stores. The main attraction, however, is the weekend farmers market. Since the tour group I was with departed early Saturday morning, I didn’t have the opportunity to enjoy browsing through the market.

Nice gallery to just wander around and admire a good selection of paintings which can be accessed from either side of the building just off the boardwalk. We didn't purchase anything but understand that there is the option to send.

It looks very unassuming from the outside but don’t let that fool you — there is a great variety of art styles at very reasonable prices. If paintings aren’t your thing, there is also pottery, jewelry, scarves (etc) that would all make great gift ideas.

I really like that it’s a co-op; it also likely explains the fantastic customer service. The staff there were very helpful and kind. They packaged up my art purchase securely so that I could take it on the plane with me. I appreciate that they didn’t try to up-sell me on having it shipped. (They actually talked me out of it — saved me $50!)

Seriously am contemplating making an annual trip to Halifax just for the purpose of art gallery hopping… with this as my first stop!

Every time I have visited this market I slay find stuff I want. Maybe not that I need it but want. The cost is $2 to get in and the parking is free. It is a descent size market and there is everything from antiques, clothing, some food items and the usual flea market products.

Dropped into this gallery while touring other nearby attractions, and fund it most interesting, with the skill set of local artists absolutely amazing. Well worth a visit.

A wide variety of amphora vessels comprise this exhibition.
I found it interesting that some of the "pots" were different front and back.

This gallery is a fantastic place to mull and peruse the art of young, inspired individuals testing waters and pushing boundaries.
Three galleries are devoted to the exhibition of art, craft and design with new work opening every Monday at 5:30 p.m.

In 1887, to commemorate Queen Victoria’s golden jubilee year, Leonowens suggested founding an art school, which came into reality as the Victoria School of Art (later to morph into NSCAD). In 1968, this gallery at NSCAD was dedicated to Anna Leonowens.

If you enjoy art galleries and purchase art, this is a destination gallery. Three floors of well curated art by Canadian artists in a range of styles, much of it depicting Canadian themes. Good selection of First People and Inuit art, maritime works, art of the Maritimes and Newfoundland. We spent 90 minutes here. A real highlight.

On a recent visit to Halifax, my husband and I discovered 14 Bells Fine Art Gallery in the heart of the trendy Hydrostone Market in the city's north end. The gallery is located on the second floor of a historic building, constructed as a result of the Halifax Explosion. The gallery's beautiful, sunlit space is adorned by the work of several talented Canadian artists, many of them local. The gallery owner is an absolute delight and very knowledgeable. She made our visit a pleasant one.

This gallery is not to be missed! Enjoy lunch at one of the several fabulous restaurants in the area, then make your way to the gallery. It will be the highlight of your day!

Teichert Gallery, associated with the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, serves a useful role in promoting the visual arts in Nova Scotia. The work of a far wider range of artists than any commercial gallery could provide is made available. Works from the collection is available for both purchase and rental. Rented pieces can later be bought if one falls in love with them. Among the many artists represented some are well established and well known; others are at the beginning of their careers. Not surprisingly, the collection is eclectic in the extreme, representing many styles. Not all the pieces on display will be to your taste, but the gallery provides opportunities at all stages of their career to display their work to the public. In my view, the unique function the gallery has served for almost 50 years deserves a five-star rating.
