This is an Erik only review as Cheryl did not go on this trip. I had ice cream here on August 23, 2023 and August 25, 2023. Pretty simple affair of getting in line, ordering, paying and enjoying the ice cream. The service was good and the ice cream was also good. Just I note I did not see a dairy free option on the menu. I would definitely get ice cream from here again.

We had been wanting to make this trip for awhile. However, the weather made our visit a challenge. Even though I had watched the weather reports ahead of time, we underestimated just how cold and wet Halifax could be the end of June. But we managed the Art Museum with Maud Lewis' artwork (an absolute must), The Citadel (dress warmly), and Historical Properties along the waterfront, along with the Maritime Museum. The terrain is very hilly (think steep), and you need to take that into account. There are plenty of places to eat downtown, and that's where we were. My husband said Pickford and Black had excellent fish and chips, and their Reuben sandwich was divine. The Bluenose II was warm and comfy, and clearly a local hangout.

A haven for local arts and crafts. We spent ages in here and went away with all sorts of, ok yes, souvenirs, but at least they weren’t made in China!

Rum Runners is located along the Halifax waterfront and the smells of the delicious rum cakes being baked on site will entice you into the store. In the store you are able to watch them making the rum cakes and there are free samples of the rum cakes but they arent so free as the smell and taste of the rum cakes have trapped and lured you into purchasing a rum cake. Besides the delicious rum cakes they have branded merchandise available to purchase.

Excellent little shop with a great selection of Yak wool which is not readily accessible in the US. If you are into knitting, check this place out in your travels.

Made in the Maritimes (either Hydrostone or Beford) has become my go-top shop for gifts of all kinds. From the whimsical to practical - they've got it all! Gorgeous wall art too. Would highly recommend. I often leave with treats for myself too!

Our cruise ship was docked here, and there was a large selection of souvenir shops. There was plenty of variety and more selection than any place we found in the city. Prices were very reasonable, and the place was quite busy.

We were lucky enough to find out that Haskapa runs tours of their berry farm. This was a unique experience. Cynthia, the farm manager took us round and explained all the innovations that they were making in their quest to grow these amazing haskap berries in an environmentally friendly way. You don't often get to meet someone with such passion, enthusiasm and professionalism.
Then we went to the shop for a talk and a tasting session. They really treated us like royalty. The talk was by a highly qualified physician who was researching the health benefits of their berries. She was a treat to listen to: a truly engaging expert.
The tasting session was extremely generous; we must have drunk 2 or 3 different haskap products (including a gin, which was my favourite) and then tried all sorts of jams, relishes etc. I really liked the jam, it was not too sweet.
All this for 25 dollars (and we got 10 dollars off our first purchase). Really good value.
I'd recommend this to tour anyone.

the products are great and so warm and inviting. the service is great and had a great chat with a young lady who was there this morning. May take her up on getting a Tattoo in the spring. Both several soaps and the quality of these products are great.

Frida is a beautiful shop. I couldn't resist the urge to go in. I had no intentions of purchasing anything, but once I was inside and saw the gorgeous jewelry, I had to get something. I purchased the most beautiful pair of Blue Topaz and white enamel earrings. Carrie's passion shows in her beautiful designs. I'd go back to Nova Scotia just to visit Frida.
