Well worth a visit. Mary's Cathedral Basilica is a Catholic cathedral located in the centre of Halifax and is the largest Catholic church in the Archdiocese. Consecrated on 19 October 1899, it was made a basilica in 1950 by Pope Pius XII. The St. Mary's Cathedral Basilica boasts the tallest granite spire in North America. The spire has a height of 189 feet (58 m).
These are old warehouses from the 19th Century that have been converted to new uses, mostly for tourism. You will find them as a part of the Harbourside walk area. Shops, places to eat. Handsome buildings.
This is a very imposing building located toward the center of town and near the government functions. It is older than most structures in the center and has housed some important provincial offices. We took a peak inside and liked the look.
Important law functions go on here. For the tourist, it is an imposing stone building toward the center of town. Not especially fun or interesting, but important to the local population.
