What travellers are saying
- Julie DVancouver1,071 contributionsThe Maude Lewis exhibit was very good. Her actual house is on display along with several pieces of her art work. There isn't much else to see. Good gift shop. You would spend only about an hour here.Written October 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- SilverOrlovBedford, Canada2,544 contributionsA small gallery where different artists exhibit from time to time and their works can be purchased. It turned out that at the moment when I was there, the person who was working there at that moment also had his works exhibited in this place too.
I can’t say that I liked all the pictures here, but in addition to those that I really liked, I can also say for sure that the existence of such a place is cool.Written June 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A wide variety of amphora vessels comprise this exhibition.
I found it interesting that some of the "pots" were different front and back.Written August 26, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Three floors of well curated art by Canadian artists in a range of styles, much of it depicting Canadian themes. Good selection of First People and Inuit art, maritime works, art of the Maritimes and Newfoundland. We spent 90 minutes here. A real highlight.Written October 17, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Kuma LHalifax, Canada173 contributionsOn a recent visit to Halifax, my husband and I discovered 14 Bells Fine Art Gallery in the heart of the trendy Hydrostone Market in the city's north end. The gallery is located on the second floor of a historic building, constructed as a result of the Halifax Explosion. The gallery's beautiful, sunlit space is adorned by the work of several talented Canadian artists, many of them local. The gallery owner is an absolute delight and very knowledgeable. She made our visit a pleasant one.
This gallery is not to be missed! Enjoy lunch at one of the several fabulous restaurants in the area, then make your way to the gallery. It will be the highlight of your day!Written December 15, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Three galleries are devoted to the exhibition of art, craft and design with new work opening every Monday at 5:30 p.m.
In 1887, to commemorate Queen Victoria’s golden jubilee year, Leonowens suggested founding an art school, which came into reality as the Victoria School of Art (later to morph into NSCAD). In 1968, this gallery at NSCAD was dedicated to Anna Leonowens.Written October 28, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The work of a far wider range of artists than any commercial gallery could provide is made available. Works from the collection is available for both purchase and rental. Rented pieces can later be bought if one falls in love with them. Among the many artists represented some are well established and well known; others are at the beginning of their careers. Not surprisingly, the collection is eclectic in the extreme, representing many styles. Not all the pieces on display will be to your taste, but the gallery provides opportunities at all stages of their career to display their work to the public. In my view, the unique function the gallery has served for almost 50 years deserves a five-star rating.Written October 17, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - marthawannabeMoncton, Canada154 contributionsThe venue was hard to find, even using Google maps. The entrance is off an unpaved area where it appears mini homes or trailers are under construction. We had to look hard to find it. Once there the parking lot is a wreck. The staff were friendly and organized and we did not have to wait long to enter. The first part of the exhibit, while educational was nothing you couldn't glean from a good artwork. Biographical details of Van Goghs life were exhibited on lit up panels that had to be read. But a fast reader like myself was stuck behind slow readers so I found this part trying. The second part is a visual adjustment to acclimatize the viewer to movement as the display could affect persons with motion sickness. The last part was wonderful, 45 minutes of artwork that constantly changes, displayed on all surfaces of the room including pillars in the centre. It was mesmerizing. You felt like you were in the paintings. Black and white sketches changed to fully coloured paintings, blossoms fell from trees. I highly recommend it.Written June 12, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- bluehaven7Luxor, Egypt3 contributionsThe poorest art gallery I ever visited. Primitive paintings and ceramics good for trash bin. Don't waste your time.Written June 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
