Stop on your way in or out of Halifax. It’s hard to believe you’re in a large city while strolling through the park! We were there in the morning and had the park almost to ourselves.

We walked up from the waterfront, and it is a steep climb. Look for the parking at the fort if you have issues getting around. Nice views of Harbour. There are several great exhibits on history of settlement of Halifax and the evolution of Citadel, but the signage is not clear and I almost missed the main exhibit because it's entrance is behind the barracks building.

Mix of exhibits on ocean liners and commercial vessels (boring unless you are really into scale models and ship design), the Halifax explosion, and the Titantc. It's worth the admission and is located right on the waterfront.

We were disappointed on being unable to visit on our previous visit to Halifax, have been waiting 5 years for another opportunity - but it was well worth the wait. Absolutely excellent museum. Two main areas One side covers the history of the Canadian Immigration at Pier 21 itself with 30 minute guided tour with stories and 22 minute video covering various immigrants.. The other covers the people aspects historically and their stories / impact on them personally. Both are visually very well presented and have ample artefacts, photos, videos etc.
We found it all fascinating. So much so that we were there for 5 hours!
The cafe was small / adequate but it didn't need to be more than that seeing as you were free to come and go during your stay ( just keep your badge!) and many eateries are within say 10- 15 minutes proximity. Nice little gift shop.
It's very different to Ellis Island - both are excellent in different ways.

Come early to avoid crowds and enjoy a more leisurely walk. Boardwalk is filled with nice shops, art installations and entertainment. Stop by museums to take in some AC on a hot day. We’d been here before the major renovation project and its completed work was well worth it.

Maybe not the best beer in Nova Scotia but a fun tour not to miss. The guide will quickly go through the brewery giving a bit of history but the main entertainment is down in the pub where you can sample beers and listen to songs. The singers/musicians were really good. Fantastic atmosphere.

The best value for the money meal in Halifax is the day old bread and bakery at the top floor/roof top coffee shop. I was coming from a cruise ship, it was AWESOME to find a place with free Wi-Fi.

It was lovely to escape from the bustling urban centre to be amongst nature a bit. I absolutely loved the walking trails here and views of the Atlantic.

It was a great honor to tour this ship. It is very historic and is being kept in good shape by volunteers. Our tour covered a lot of the ship and was very interesting. From the bridge to the steering room, to the depth charges and hedgehogs to the galley and engine room, I learned a lot.

Don't miss it! We went specifically for the Maud Adams collection and it did not disappoint. Her house was her canvas and it is now on display (although not in a frame). Lots of her art to see and pictures of her, too. Great gift shop, too.

We were in town for this tattoo that was only 3 days long, getting ready to celebrate Canada today. We ended up getting tickets for the first night. This was an amazing experience.

It's a lot of marching military bands and a lot of bagpipes, and they also had the Highland dancers girls from Scotland that were really good. If You do not like loud marching band music or bagpipes, this is not for you.

They had some visiting bands from South Korea, Switzerland, the United States, Germany, and England, and the bands participated in different things. But it was all about music.

This was a really good experience and not something I have ever experienced before in the United States. So I was really happy to go.

In fact, this is a very interesting place for children, where on 4 floors in sum you can learn interesting sides about things like different types of energy, or about the hockey. There is a small cafeteria and a room where children can do different things, which I called for myself “teaching a child to love science.” But in my opinion the price is higher than normal. Let’s just say that either there is a need for more space with something more interesting, or the price is a little lower. In my opinion it’s too much now.

Going to this cathedral I combined two goals: I am a newcomer in Canada and wanted to see how local masses are held here and how local churches differed from those in my homeland... and the second reason, I had long dreamed of listening to a live performance on a real good organ. And I won’t hide that this reason was in the first place for me.
On Sunday mornings, masses are held here, and the organ of 9000 pipes takes place too... and it was very pleasant moments. Not a full concert, but even so, between parts of the mass I really liked what this musical instrument is capable of. And I want more... now I want to go to a real concert.
As for this basilica: a very pleasant calm feeling, I was very impressed by the stained glass windows and quite liked the way the local priests conducted their mass.
I’ll probably repeat what some YouTube authors advise to newcomers to the country: if you’re feeling stressed (probably useful for tourists too)... go to a place like this, even just to sit and relax... the surrounding atmosphere and the deep sound of amazing organ music are quite capable of calming the accumulated stress and restarting emotions.
P.S.: Many thanks to the priest who served here and then moved to Bedford, where I met him. He recommended me this place and told about it.

Small old cemetery. A couple of months ago I couldn’t enter in because it was closed and some places, judging by the appearance, were undergoing restoration or cleaning, but now I was able to come in and take some pictures. It’s good when history, even in this form, is preserved and protected.

One word, WOW. My nephew James has worked here for a while. I visit twice a year and this time got tickets to The Full Monty to see theater outside of Montréal which is where I live and see theater. Halifax here I come again! This place has everyone else beat for atmosphere and one of a kind shows. The love of acting shows throughout the entire show which at times brought me to tears even though it was a musical with humor. If you are looking for one thing to do in Halifax go to Neptune because it will embrace you like a warm hug. I’m already booking my next plane ticket tor ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ next March.
