A fascinating museum, both in the main building and also on the Acadia ship outside in the harbour.
Learned about the harbour explosion, though it took some digging to find out more about the 2000 who were killed.
We weren’t fussed by the Titanic exhibition, where all the displays were closer together than anywhere else in the museum for some reason, so it was really crowded, especially with the ‘just off the cruise ship for the day’ folks in.
Seemed to be making the most of the fact that Halifax was the nearest place when the liner sank.
Cunard display was brilliant, as was Days of Sail, especially the creaking deck and moving backdrop on a cabin, which almost convinced us we were actually on a ship.

Both the Pier 21 and the Canadian Immigration Story Exhibits are really worth a visit; we learned so much.
Surprised by the blatant racism of Canada not that long ago, wanting only white Europeans until relatively recently.
A bit of a contrast with USA and UK but full marks for the honesty.
There are also desks downstairs in the Family History Center where you can start the search for answers about your ancestors, which we did.

The tour guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. The ceilidh was fun. Beautiful building with lots of history. Only negative, they allow small children on the tours; the children lacked interest and were somewhat disruptive and took away from the experience. I would have given the tour a 5 star if it wasn’t for the children attending.

One of the nicest libraries I've ever visited. Not only is it amazing architecturally, but the inside is really inviting and appealing. They have two cafes (one on ground floor, the other on top floor). They thoughtfully put out interesting book selections facing outward around the stacks, which lead to a lot of perusing of books. Lots of places to sit and read, or computers to use (including iPads and Chromebooks to borrow). Almost makes me wish I lived here to take advantage of the resources.

If you like history, you will enjoy visiting this ship. They have guides throughout that provide information about parts of the ship and what they were used for. You do go up and down some short ladders to go to different levels. It took me 30 minutes to go through it all. It's free but they suggest a donation, which I gave one. It helps with preservation of the ship.

Don't miss it! We went specifically for the Maud Adams collection and it did not disappoint. Her house was her canvas and it is now on display (although not in a frame). Lots of her art to see and pictures of her, too. Great gift shop, too.

We were in town for this tattoo that was only 3 days long, getting ready to celebrate Canada today. We ended up getting tickets for the first night. This was an amazing experience.

It's a lot of marching military bands and a lot of bagpipes, and they also had the Highland dancers girls from Scotland that were really good. If You do not like loud marching band music or bagpipes, this is not for you.

They had some visiting bands from South Korea, Switzerland, the United States, Germany, and England, and the bands participated in different things. But it was all about music.

This was a really good experience and not something I have ever experienced before in the United States. So I was really happy to go.

It was a really neat place for the kids to play and learn for the morning. Lots of interactive activities to do. We also checked out the live show about constellations in the dome. Very cool show. Unfortunately the lower level was under construction so we were limited.

We always enjoy the architecture of churches. We walked to this church from pier 22 where our cruise ship was docked, then continued on up to the gardens and the citadel.
The church is worth a visit if you are investigating Halifax.

What a wonderful, intimate theater. We saw Kitchen Party with special guest, Heather Rankin which was fantastic! The theatre seats are very comfortable and the layout is non-claustrophobic. You can purchase beer and wine at the theater bar both prior to the show as well as during intermission. Beverages are allowed inside the theatre which was convenient and civilized. Theatre staff are friendly and helpful and their website is user friendly.

We had a few hours so headed over. Wished I had known that Saturday is a better market. After 30 minutes we were finished

We went to the service there. We were very leery to drop in on Sunday, as we are tourists and were concerned that, that would put everyone off. Let me tell you we had nothing to be concerned about. Not only is it a beautiful church, and they have a beautiful service, but the people there are so welcoming and kind!

The Nova Scotia Museum of Natural History is a small but interesting museum tucked away a short walk away from The Citadel. exhibits about the wildlife, plants and how they have played a part in The Maritimes over the span of time are featured. You can see everything in well under an hour but though small still worth a look.

We came to the market on Friday, but once we got there, we found out it was not open. It's really just open on saturdays and Sundays, and the other information on the internet is incorrect.
We returned on Saturday and bought several things, like homemade jam, a giant cinnamon roll, and cheese. They had other things like flowers and bath salts and jewelry and honey, a good variety of things at this market.

When we were walking back from the market and got onto the boardwalk, we found several little vendor houses and got some really delicious hot sauce from a company called nurple. It actually had flavor, not just heat.

The cynic in me said this place would be contrived and expensive as it’s situated right next to our cruise terminal.
However I couldn’t be further from the truth.
Warm welcome, helpful staff and great beer.
€12Canadian for a flight which was great value.
    Would definitely recommend!
