I don’t usually like zoos or other places that keep animals den their natural habitat, but the place was very clean, the birds had plenty of space to roam, fly, and nest, the areas had plenty of food and water, an...

Reptilia Zoo and Education Centre Vaughan
#6 of 40 Zoos & Aquariums in Ontario
We really enjoyed this small reptile zoo, the show was good and very informative, there seemed to be lots of zoo keepers there to ask any questions and it appeared well organized and excellent care for the reptiles.
Some aquariums show the underwater movement and action of the alligators.

Something for everyone!! Awesome zoo, kids activities, timely tram service & an extremely relaxed atmosphere.

Polar Bear Habitat & Heritage Village Cochrane
#9 of 40 Zoos & Aquariums in Ontario
It's a great set up they have for the polar bears as opposed to being in a zoo.
I must add that one of Inukchuk's care providers from the Toronto Zoo was visiting the day we went so we got a full story about him.

We are absolutely thrilled that we happened upon the Indian River Reptile Zoo and it will become a regular stop for us on future trips!

Aquatarium at Tall Ships Landing Brockville
#11 of 40 Zoos & Aquariums in Ontario
We will be back again this summer with our grandchild - who at age 3 had a wonderful & fun time @ the aquarium!!
Keep in mind, the Aquatarium is significantly cheaper than the Ripley's Aquarium in Toronto and in my opinion is equally as good.
Elmvale Jungle Zoo Elmvale
#12 of 40 Zoos & Aquariums in Ontario
They have a meet the animals show, the zoo keepers introduce you to a selection of animals, and the keeps are knowledgeable about the animals they bring, so an excellent educational and hands on experience.
You can see all of their animals and take some great pics up close (unlike your big city zoos) and also get a chance to feed many of the animals.

Lots of interactions with all the animals in a safe environment and our Zoo guide Sarah was so knowledgable and made a great teacher and friend and gave us a great description and introduction to each animal.

Northern Exotics Sudbury
#17 of 40 Zoos & Aquariums in Ontario
This is a very small zoo filled with cool and endangered critters where, if you come at the right time, you can pet a porcupine and watch alligators and crocodiles get fed.
But make sure you visit the "zoo" (agree with previous poster that it is more sanctuary than zoo).

It was a great deal of fun to see them and walk around the zoo.
Today we visited the Saunders Country Critters Zoo (using a Groupon) ... what a lovely and delightful experience this was.

#19 of 40 Zoos & Aquariums in Ontario
I love animals and for zoo animals, and there will always be zoo animals, these animals were very well taken care of and I think the space they are provided is more than adequate.
We enjoy it way more than the Toronto Zoo, food is good and very reasonably priced, nice splash pad and very nice large playground.

There are rides, aquariums, dolphin shows, whales, petting zoos, and you can feed deer, bear, and elk.
The sea lions were fun to watch in the aquarium as they were in perpetual motion and full of curiosity, always checking us out as we watch from below in the underground viewing space.
