To view the internal aspects of the house/castle it was always going to be beneficial with a guide, and there are tours every half hour. The guide we had was very informative and answered all the questions from the group we went with. My wife and I are seasoned national trust members and are used to “seeing” all the items of interest as we go round the house, and the entrance price was well worth it as we started outside and went to the “upstairs” accommodation before going to the “downstairs” rooms. A special little talk by the lady cook who gave us a treat from the garden produce, thank you it was lovely.

Great tour - we were able to explore most areas on the ship, the few roped off areas were still viewable. Information signs were plentiful and easy to understand, made our self guided tour a great experience. Be aware, lots of climbing ladders, a few tight spaces - would be a challenge for someone with mobility issues.
We went for the 79th birthday celebration, got to see the big gun fired and talked with a number of former servicemen (including one who actually served on the HMCS Haida!)
Admission cost was very reasonable - go see this one!

The old Copps Coliseum is in downtown Hamilton between Main Street East and York Street-Catherine. FirstOntario Centre’s not a very walkable area. The best thing is that it’s just 45 minutes from Toronto or Niagara. Seating 219 or 115 is directly under the box. Seating @16(208-09)/17(107-08) and 19(210-11) is probably cheaper—in the middle where the screens are. It’s accessed by stairs descending from FoodWorks poutine ($10-14) past PizzaPizza & the ATM. They directly face midway seats 55(228-29) and 53(121-22) by the Lounge. The nearest parking, by the bottom of the Centre escalators, is adjacent—under Jackson Square next door (flanked by Tim Horton’s coffee shops)—South-East of York’s one-way on Bay St. The other (W) side of the intersection at York-Bay is a grey Canadian Forces /government building without public parking there nor at the old red-brick Macdonald High School. From the sidewalk, it’s a bit confusing finding FirstOntario Centre (not to be confused with ‘Ontario Place’). The “Ontario Insurance” branding or Box Office sign is your best bet to enter the hockey arena/concert venue. Carry your own water bottle, which can be bought at the Nations Fresh Foods store with min. $30 supermarket receipt /parking validation (& washroom), just inside JacksonSquare’s Bay doorway. For wheelchair access there’s mainly one pay lot: on the other side of York Street (with RBC bank machine & BMO ATM beside Jackson Square’s Sheraton Hotel rear Starbucks /Pita Pit), past Anchor Bar fried pizza. For pickup/group order: 905-527 -7383 or ca208 @mypitapit.ca. Except holidays the ground level accessible door is open at the TekKlinic-Dollarama /food court corridor of Jackson Square. The Tim Horton’s (without washroom) is always open at the other end of the Square below Hamilton City Centre & college too. For Atkins dieters, Subway salad bowls (besides Pita Pit halal) is hidden behind Royal Shawarma. York Street is one way though. If you need to stop while driving East toward Toronto, in reverse, turn left off Bay onto Cannon Street and veer right along the water past Dundurn Castle; it’ll turn into the York Street ramp to access highway 403 that changes names (by highway 407 toll North or 403-Niagara S) to Queen Elizabeth Way E-Gardiner Expressway, toward downtown Toronto. Without the perks, FirstOntario is more conveniently located than one would think in SW Ontario!

The museum is a small family house.Organizers could keep atmosphere of past periods, for two centuries. The guide Jarrod told us many interesting things and expressed positiveness.Definitely,he is a very knowledgeable person, who likes his job ! On of the most important thing is that there are original furniture and personal belongings of the family. It was very interesting to hear a real story of a Lady, who worked in this building as a housekeeper/cook. One day she visited this site as a member of an excursion group... :-)

I and my family have been buying corn here for 30 plus years. As not too many places sell truly great sweet corn this has been our destination to purchase our many dozens of corn to put down in the freezer for the seasons to come, where only it seems cattle corn is sold in the supermarkets as sweet corn. We will be sticking with Dyments thanks very much.

Our extended family came to Tim Hortons Field to watch the Ticats battle it out with the Ottawa RedBlacks. We brought 3 young children and 6 adults (30s and 60s). We all had a great time on this very chilly day.
Food service was extraordinarily slow - just not keeping up with medium demands. However the washrooms were very clean throughout the day and our kids were delighted to find a playground included in the stadium.

Sight lines were steep but quite good - we were in the nosebleed section.

Great little family farm. They have pumpkins and apples, and you can buy a pie made right there which is pretty delicious. Also, the entrance fee is quite low and makes sense unlike other farms. Even though a playground they have on premises is paid separately it's nice to spend some time.

This pool and it's staff are good. Kids used to take swim lessons here and the staff was always great with them. Water fit classes are good and you get out what you put into them! I really enjoy them. Front desk staff is helpful all the time too. I have rented the party room before and it is a reasonable rate and holds many. would highly recommend for birthdays/showers etc.

Anytime I am in this part of town on business and need a few minutes to park than this is the place to relax. Big enough to ewalk your dog but not really suitable for a picnic with family along with good close friends. Small parking lot in this well maintained and looked after park. It has a great view of downtown Hamilton along with Lake Ontario. Close to highways that will get you quickly arounf town. Bruce Trail is nearby which I hiked with an old OPP friend numerous years ago.

Yep close to home. Been there maybe ten time over the years, the washrooms need a reno' and I could teach them something about getting the food to the people in a timely way. That said for me the Vintage cars and the CanAm midgets are beyond awesome, yep the other classes are good too but I always ensure my fav's are running before we go. We're dealing with a country bullring here folks, don't expect Indy or Mosport, but it is entertaining.

On the west end of Lake Ontario we will find the Burlington Canal.
Sunrise's are dramatic here since they arise directly in the middle of the lake during June. There were lots of nature photographers there early in the morning taking photos of the birds. Fishermen rise early to come here and find the catch for the day. It is very picturesque and you almost forget you have the Hamilton Steel Work factories behind you. The Burlington Canal Lighthouse dates back to the mid-1800s and has a bit of history attached to it. There is a very small park here were you can have a picnic lunch or you can walk down the stony beach.

Wonderful produce especially corn. Our family waits with bated breath for Cranston Farms to open their roadside produce booth. The corn is picked fresh every day and they know what the varieties taste like so feel free to inquire if you see a variety you are not familiar with.

You might not have relatives here but it is a very beautiful, historic place to visit. Expect to spend about an hour here, just looking around at the stones, monuments, crypts, and mausoleums. If you wish you can sign up for one of the many two hour tours. Led by volunteers, the will give you a great insight to the history .
