First of all, this is not a "castle". Someone decided to attract travellers. This is just a big house without any walls and towers. Also this is not Versallis, but Canada is not France. LOL. We liked this place, because they created very good atmosphere of XIX century. A guide Natali had old-fashion dressing. It was so amazing. :-) When I visit historical sites,I always have interest to ordinary things, not fancy sides.I mean that I want to know how people lived in that period.I want to see washrooms, bathrooms, rooms of housekeepers, laundry, kitchen for cooking, storages etc. We could see this side of daily life in XIX century. I am sure that children cannot value this house. I'd recommend to read history and have imagination about that period, before visiting this site.

Great tour - we were able to explore most areas on the ship, the few roped off areas were still viewable. Information signs were plentiful and easy to understand, made our self guided tour a great experience. Be aware, lots of climbing ladders, a few tight spaces - would be a challenge for someone with mobility issues.
We went for the 79th birthday celebration, got to see the big gun fired and talked with a number of former servicemen (including one who actually served on the HMCS Haida!)
Admission cost was very reasonable - go see this one!

The museum is a small family house.Organizers could keep atmosphere of past periods, for two centuries. The guide Jarrod told us many interesting things and expressed positiveness.Definitely,he is a very knowledgeable person, who likes his job ! On of the most important thing is that there are original furniture and personal belongings of the family. It was very interesting to hear a real story of a Lady, who worked in this building as a housekeeper/cook. One day she visited this site as a member of an excursion group... :-)

I visited this old building when the quilt of belonging was on exhibit. This visit took several hours as I examined all the 263 quilt blocks representing the cultural heritage of people living in Canada. Afterwards I walked through this old building and saw several studios of artists "at work". There were concerts and presentations also taking place in the building. Part of the building is occupied and part is up for leasing or renting. The owners are bringing it back to life!
