It is one of those places where visitors feel a community behind the exhibition, the dedicated people who want the place to be special and to grow and evolve all the time.
They also brought in the topic of space and its exploration, and there's a 15-minute planetarium show. It may be interesting for kids, but adults can easily skip it.
The on-site eatery is okay, but it has a great view of the nearby airport. (There's also an observation deck.)
The museum shop is huge and very theme-oriented.

First of all, this is not a "castle". Someone decided to attract travellers. This is just a big house without any walls and towers. Also this is not Versallis, but Canada is not France. LOL. We liked this place, because they created very good atmosphere of XIX century. A guide Natali had old-fashion dressing. It was so amazing. :-) When I visit historical sites,I always have interest to ordinary things, not fancy sides.I mean that I want to know how people lived in that period.I want to see washrooms, bathrooms, rooms of housekeepers, laundry, kitchen for cooking, storages etc. We could see this side of daily life in XIX century. I am sure that children cannot value this house. I'd recommend to read history and have imagination about that period, before visiting this site.

Great tour - we were able to explore most areas on the ship, the few roped off areas were still viewable. Information signs were plentiful and easy to understand, made our self guided tour a great experience. Be aware, lots of climbing ladders, a few tight spaces - would be a challenge for someone with mobility issues.
We went for the 79th birthday celebration, got to see the big gun fired and talked with a number of former servicemen (including one who actually served on the HMCS Haida!)
Admission cost was very reasonable - go see this one!

Great place to walk the dog! Paved paths encourage wheeled patrons, but in my experience everyone is super polite and the right-of-way is respected.
Excellent if you need somewhere to show off your Freedom Convoy leanings.. Quite a few unnecessarily large trucks for a city but I'm sure the fuel expenditure is worth it.
Plenty of places for bbq's without negatively affecting others

Hamilton's annual Chrysanthemum Show for 2022 is held in the Gage Park Greenhouses October 14-23. This year's theme is Mums In Space.

On the way into the greenhouse look for the "meteorite" that crashed into the garden. It is well done.

Over 100,00 blooms are arranged in displays featuring the planets, space shuttle, lunar rover, Canadarm, Mars greenhouse, NASA logo, etc. There are information boards with every display. Over 200 varieties of mums are on display along with other colorful plants. We have attended many shows and this is one of the best.

Mums do not come in all colors. A staff member shared the secret of the blue and black blooms: they are painted.

There are activities for the kids including a hunt for 9 space related signs and an activity area.

While the tropical greenhouse is free, there is an admission charge for the Mum Show. $7.77 for adults and $6.77 for seniors.

Don't expect the full coverage of steam technology from trains to steamboats. This is a museum of one thing, but that thing is displayed nicely. It is a former pump house of the early city's watermain. You can see the moving parts in action (of course, not coal- but electrically powered these days).

The view is best after a rain, which supplies water. Hamilton mountain sets on Niagara Escarpment. Behind it is a vast expanse of farm land. The collected rain water flows to the rim of escarpment and make up the many falls.

Beautiful area with great view. Dry weather seems to have reduced the flow to a trickle. I would reccomend a couple of rainy days before I would head out next time. The observation platform has a great view. The parking was a bit expensive at $7.50 for the short time that we stayed. I bet it is beautiful with more water.

Visited on a coolish June Monday afternoon. We enjoyed walking through time with the buildings that come from different eras, but sadly no buildings were open to visitors. But we still spent more than two hours there, including some walking on trails outside the village center.

in 1966 my 2 brothers and I discovered the grinding stone that is mounted at top of falls. is was burried under the path to the left of falls. It was tradition on good Friday to walk the Bruce trail and have a hot dog lunch at the bottom of the Falls

Great place to visit. Keep in mind you have to make a reservation in advance to enter the sites. There is some parking available in the town itself but it’s quite a walk to the falls

This is a hidden gem in Hamilton, Ontario. It is a relatively small operation but a private tour takes about 2 hours. Erica, our guide, was exceptionally knowledgeable about generous with the information she provided. She did not rush us and opened as many of the exhibits as was possible allowing us to handle the reptiles, tortoises, etc. The opportunity to experience these animals was a real treat ... some of us having to challenge our fears to handle and touch things like snakes. They really aren't slimy at all!! We had the opportunity to pet and play with a hedge hog but the piece de resistance was Iris, the 6 month old, two toed sloth. They brought her out with her blanket and each of us (we were a group of 4 adults) had the opportunity to hold, feed and pet her. She was adorable as you can see from the photos.

All of the staff are knowledgeable and engage authentically with visitors. We learned a great deal about the creatures that some of us didn't know .

We highly recommend this little gem. It would be fun for child and, it is possible to book a birthday party there. They also cater to schools and will bring some of the animals to visit the classroom.

One suggestion, take a bottle of water with you. It is quite hot and humid. It feels hotter and more humid the longer you're there. We were all perspiring and in need of water which isn't available there. Do yourself a favour and take a bottle each with you.

They have a second location in Ottawa which we've not seen but if it's half as good as Hamilton, it will be more than worth it.

A must-travel for families with Kids.
Magnificient Lions and other animals. Animal shows were also good. Staffs were amazing
My advice to families will be take the bus tour once so that they can get the information on the place and animals. Then you can drive with your car as many times as you want. Well maintained place.
It has multiple play areas for kids. Food options were also decent
