Nice town/village. Still maintains a friendly. Quaint “Hallmark Christmas” atmosphere. Cute boutiques line the streets. Wonderful weekend getaway.

If you are visiting NotL make sure you spend some time visiting Fort George. This is a great faithful reconstruction of the original site complete with some original artefacts. There are heaps of staff on site, in period costume, who are very knowledgeable and eager to answer your questions. Having no knowledge of the history of the area, I walked away with a good understanding of the history around the 1812 war. Make sure you time your visit for the musket demonstration - this is well worth seeing. The person demonstrating one of the weapons had some difficulty with the firing mechanism highlighting the issues with this type of weapon - the commentary was hilarious and had us all laughing.

Over looks Niagara River.- good view of boats. Shady in morning and sunny in afternoon. Good for recreational bicycling - relatively flat.

This park has become quite pricey. Parking is now $20 flat rate for 4 or more hours! Washrooms are far away and park is not handicap accessible.
Rental of a shared area in the pavilion with a small charcoal bbq is pricey too.
But- our family (52 of us came this year) had a great time and the kids love the splash pool.

Brock's Monument is a 56-metre column set at Queenston Heights in Queenston, Ontario, Canada, and is dedicated to Major General Sir Isaac Brock, one of Canada's heroes of the War of 1812 who is also buried at the base on the monument

This was a pretty cool experience. There were no grapes on the vine yet. But the scenery was very nice. I don’t drink so I can’t tell you how tasty the wine was. However, my husband says it was good. The sample they gave to taste was a white wine and he prefers red. But he drank it all-including mine. LOL

The weather was very nice so we sat outside in the sun. They gave a presentation on the non profit business they are running there at the school.

Be aware that they push the ice wine and it is expensive because of the amount of fermented grapes used per bottle.

    Enjoy.

A short but very informative tour of the Laura Secord House. The tour guide we had really knew her history. Thank you for a nice time.

It might not look very spectacular now, but this house was quite the place when it was built. Interesting story of a local citizen who did well for himself, until the War of 1812. Tour guide that we had was very good, and brought history to life. If you're into historical places and houses, worth the half hour.

Pretty cool to see such a small church. Had lunch and dessert at the fruit stand nextdoor. Washrooms on property. Only thing that threw us off was the pin on google maps was incorrect, so make sure to add exact address in google (rather than smallest church notl).

This is the St. Mark's Anglican Church in Niagara-on-the-lake.

    Parish 1792 -Founded Building 1805.

    A huge tower.

    Lots of trees.

    The church is beige.

Inside the church they have Stained glass windows.

They have a cemetery as well.

    I like this church.

    A must see!

This is the St. Vincent De Paul Church.

    It is a Roman Catholic.

There were a lot of cemeteries here.

There are a lot of trees.

Outside there is a statue of Joseph and Maria and the child.

    There were flowers.

St. Vincent de Paul Church started at 1835.

A dozen years ago, after touring Niagara Falls we headed north along the escarpment and came across a roadside fruit stand selling the most delicious cherries I'd ever tasted. In the many seasons since then, we had driven that same road several times . . . but never during peak fruit season, so the retail shop wasn't open.

After a four-year absence from Canada, this past week we drove the route again, and I mentioned to hubby that we should be on the lookout for the fruit stand in case it might still exist. Sure enough! Van de Laar Orchards was open for business. And it happened to be peak season for both cherries and strawberries.

We bought a large container of each, which totaled 13 CAD (or about $9 USD). The fruit was perfectly ripe and so incredibly juicy - some of the best I've ever eaten . . . again. I'm so pleased that Van de Laar is still growing some of the finest fruit in North America. Hopefully we'll be able to enjoy some of their harvest again next summer when we're in the area.
