Always lush in the summer and well-kept in the winter, a beautiful place to gather surrounded by the Chateau Laurier, the Peace Tower, the National Art Gallery, the Basilica. People are walking or reading, picnics, playing games, walking the dog.

My friend and I happened upon this magical place by accident and had the most wondrous walk through the forest, looking at the sculptures.
We were filled with so much peace and it was just so beautiful. Please visit there!!

Came to Landsdowne Park with friends to watch our Toronto Argonauts play against the Ottawa Red Blacks. This place is a family friendly stadium and has many eating and shopping places all around the park.

Beach and playground are great but we travelled here with our dog from Toronto, and stopped on our way to Ottawa as an energy burner for the kids. We were frustrated that we couldn’t even walk the trails around the park with the dog. It was very limiting, especially on a hot day where the dog can’t stay in the car. We’d read the reviews beforehand and there was no mention of the dog restriction, which was disappointing.

Confederation Square was a long time in the making. It replaces a triangular plaza named after Governor General Connaught. It was planned in 1927 to house a war memorial to commemorate the fallen of World War I which was not completed for 12 years being unveiled by King George VI in May 1939 a mere three months before the outbreak of World War II. At the base of the war memorial is the tomb of the unknown soldier. Although an arts centre was part of the original project one was not opened until the inauguration of the National Arts Centre in 1969.

A wonderful to enjoy nature with friends and family. Plenty of pretty places to walk and watch nature go by. It's on the water as well.

We purchased a take-out lunch on Carling Ave. and took it down to the park to enjoy. What a treasure for a city to have such a huge park along the waterfront! There is a large, spacious beach, picnic pavilions, and a children's playground. One of the city's bike trails also runs through the park. Lots of places to play a game with kids, lay on a blanket to read, or simply stroll and people watch. My one suggestion for improvement would be to have more picnic tables available throughout the park area. The vast majority of the tables are located in one of the pavilions.

We spend an hour here just watching all the visiting school children and ducks on the Rideau river. It is a little hilly particularly if you enter from Laurier Avenue. We walked several hundred meters down Range Road for easier access.

Excellent park! Our site was very large. Great nature trails. The one is short enough to take smaller children on. Boat launch is a great little fishing spot or place for your dog to cool off. The second beach is much less busy than the main beach but the water is very very shallow no matter how far out you go. The main beach is HUGE! But does have a drop off. My only complaint was the cleanliness of the comfort station. Seemed to be cleaned once in the morning then not again until the next morning and was quite filthy by night time. All in all a great stay!!

Petrie Island is a beautiful park and beach in Ottawa's east end. There are washrooms open in the summer, and a grill offering food. Volleyball nets can be rented, and there are lots of picnic tables. Mosquitos can be bad at dusk.

Ottawa has done an excellent job in not only preserving green space but having parks nearby where ever one lives...as a visitor helping out with young children I find this very helpful .

This park as it all, playground ( clean, no dirt or sand), splash pad, pavilion to picnic, indoor pool facility as well as a ice arena, soccer, football and baseball fields.

All well maintained and well used by the local residents.

My grandkids have a ball here!

I discovered this little-known gem this summer. It is a nice place for a walk. You can see the Ottawa River including rapids, lots of geese and ducks, and probably some people fishing. It makes a good place for a picnic too. Don't even think about swimming though!

After an absence of two years off the camping circuit - we decided to head to Rideau River fo get our camping routines back!
Camp sites are all very flat, well treed and a reasonable distance from one another - giving privacy which is nice.
Bathrooms and shower facility are kept extremely clean and water in shower is hot.
Lovely beach - slow slope for young kids.
Great picnic area next to beach with many tables offering a very nice view of Rideau River. We actually brought our dinner there to eat by the river and were visited by a family of loons which was very nice!
Close to Kemptville (maybe 5 minutes away) where you will find everything you may need - groceries, Canadian Tire etc.
