Beach and playground are great but we travelled here with our dog from Toronto, and stopped on our way to Ottawa as an energy burner for the kids. We were frustrated that we couldn’t even walk the trails around the park with the dog. It was very limiting, especially on a hot day where the dog can’t stay in the car. We’d read the reviews beforehand and there was no mention of the dog restriction, which was disappointing.

Nice variety of trails, some good for wheelchair or stroller. Peaceful and pretty even in November with all the leaves fallen. The smell of fall leaves was great. The moss and tree trunks were beautiful. Lots of Canada Geese and ducks in the waters. Glad we went

Petrie Island is a beautiful park and beach in Ottawa's east end. There are washrooms open in the summer, and a grill offering food. Volleyball nets can be rented, and there are lots of picnic tables. Mosquitos can be bad at dusk.

We brought our bikes to do some outdoor activity and biking along the parkway was beautiful. Nice paved paths along the river.

We purchased a take-out lunch on Carling Ave. and took it down to the park to enjoy. What a treasure for a city to have such a huge park along the waterfront! There is a large, spacious beach, picnic pavilions, and a children's playground. One of the city's bike trails also runs through the park. Lots of places to play a game with kids, lay on a blanket to read, or simply stroll and people watch. My one suggestion for improvement would be to have more picnic tables available throughout the park area. The vast majority of the tables are located in one of the pavilions.

I grew up in the Ottawa area and was familiar with the Hwy. 31 location, but had never visited the new location. On a recent visit to the Ottawa area, I took a private tour of their new premises in Sarsfield. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the exhibits and the attention given to the needs of each individual animal. Several species other than reptiles have been rescued by the centre demonstrating the commitment of the owner to protect and preserve all kinds of animals, not just reptiles.

Our guide Jazmin heightened our small group experience with her enthusiasm and her ability to present some unique information about each animal. Jazmin was very confident and it was evident that she has a passion for animals. Jazmin demonstrated her knowledgable about the different species by handling our group questions with ease. Although some might be reluctant to handle or touch reptiles, Jazmin showed that handling and touching snakes and turtles etc. is not something to be feared.

Please take the time to venture to Sarsfield and meet up with some exotic creatures. You might get to dance with the macaws or even hear a turtle snore.

After father's day breakfast we paid a visit to this historic sight on a pleasant day, The buildings from "another time" were well preserved and the gardens maintained in pristine condition. The scenery viewed from the buildings, overlooking the river, added to a most meaningful and pleasant visit.

It is a somewhat smaller beach & park located on NCC property at Kitchissippi Lookout on the Ottawa River.
There are washrooms, a canteen & patio with tables and free parking.
There is an enclosed area for children to enjoy the water.

The view is beautiful in August and the kids love watching the lake and the birds. Good for young kids, the trails take around an hour to walk through and mostly flat.

Not really in google maps. We parked on a side street, the falls are right off the road. Didn’t have to hike to see them. Seemed like there were some pretty steep areas that people have hiked around. Worth the quick stop!

The Ottawa River pathway runs all along the river from Hiawatha Park to Rockcliffe park.. Its a very long and scenic pathway which you can enjoy by foot, bike, Rollerblade, or ski in the winter. in the winter its part of the Ski heritage East program. The path is well kept and isolated from the street noise. You can fish from the shore, enjoy the birds and wildlife along the way. There are few parking lots along the path but not may, this one allows you the longest route on the path. Close to Rockcliffe Park area, the path much busier than the far east end where there is a large loop that you can walk around.. The parking lot there is the NCC Greenbelt parking lot P27 or closer one parking lot 7 which is right along the path.

Many great fishing spots here which include two docks and a couple of other spots with benches. It is also a nice place for a walk in the morning or evening as there is a nice trail with many things to acknowledge.

This is a small community park hidden behind a stand of trees and essentially unknown and unseen by the average passerby. It's main attraction is its lighted football field.

Heading westbound on Ogilvie Rd., just after the Aviation Parkway, you will note the trees on the right and perhaps see the sign which indicates the entrance to the park which is just before reaching Gracie O'Malley's restaurant. The small parking lot is immediately to the left after crossing the sidewalk. Park the car and walk a short distance North.

You will soon see the entrance to the Boardwalk on the right. Depending on the season the Boardwalk will take you over marshland or simply through the woods. Good experience for kids to try and locate wildlife. This is a short meandering walk and you will soon find yourself at the first play structure with the football field in front of you. The second play structure is a short distance around to the left. At this point you will be back on the road and can return to the parking lot.

    Hope you enjoy yourself.

We rented mountain bikes for the day and did a self guided tour with a map provide by Escape bicycle tour staff. Ray was very helpful in answering our questions and the bikes that we were provided were in good working order.
