- ShawnNorwood, Ontario144 contributionsWe purchased a take-out lunch on Carling Ave. and took it down to the park to enjoy. What a treasure for a city to have such a huge park along the waterfront! There is a large, spacious beach, picnic pavilions, and a children's playground. One of the city's bike trails also runs through the park. Lots of places to play a game with kids, lay on a blanket to read, or simply stroll and people watch. My one suggestion for improvement would be to have more picnic tables available throughout the park area. The vast majority of the tables are located in one of the pavilions.Written September 12, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Julie MToronto, Canada2 contributionsBeach and playground are great but we travelled here with our dog from Toronto, and stopped on our way to Ottawa as an energy burner for the kids. We were frustrated that we couldn’t even walk the trails around the park with the dog. It was very limiting, especially on a hot day where the dog can’t stay in the car. We’d read the reviews beforehand and there was no mention of the dog restriction, which was disappointing.Written July 15, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TrvlnTechOttawa31 contributionsPetrie Island is a beautiful park and beach in Ottawa's east end. There are washrooms open in the summer, and a grill offering food. Volleyball nets can be rented, and there are lots of picnic tables. Mosquitos can be bad at dusk.Written August 20, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

There is not enough parking for many people from out of town. It is a small beach that is private and with the public from far a wide coming garbage builds up, driveways are blocked and people literally have buried their dirty diapers in the sand rather than putting them in a trash can. I live in Constance Bay. It is a beautiful spot with gorgeous water but it cannot handle the public descending on hot sunny days. Try Mooney’s Bay. A city of Ottawa beach or Britannia beach if you want facilities garbage pick up and areas for the public to walk.Written August 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
