Opened in 1965, Finnish architect Viljo Revell did not live to see its completion. The council chamber is between the two towers. The building is a nice backdrop to pictures of Nathan Phillips Square.

Very nice walk around during the night. Nice illumination and some art forms to discover and read about. For a nice short walk before getting dinner.

We enjoyed a morning walk through Queen's Park on a sunny fall Sunday morning! Nice relaxing pace through the park walkways, stopping to read about the statues we we came across. Lots of nearby sites to see while walking...the Gardiner Ceramics Museum, Royal Ontario Museum, University of Toronto campus, Ontario Police Memorial Park, and Ontario Provincial Government campus.

We had an incredible experience visiting the "Ontario Legislative Building". My son, who’s studying political science and international relations, was eager to explore the inside, and we were in luck—a guided tour was being offered by the assembly. It was an amazing opportunity, and the tour itself was fascinating.

One of the highlights was being able to step into the legislative chamber—such a unique and memorable experience! We also learned about the inspiring "Grandfather Teachings", which added a deeper cultural perspective to our visit.

The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, which made the entire experience even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a perfect outing, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in history, politics, or just exploring a beautiful part of Ontario.

Mel Lastman Square is above North York (Civic) Centre subway station (TTC station facing Empress Walk on Yonge street. its great for free outdoor events. Food trucks usually park beside Starbucks, close to picnic tables. Every weekend in summer it hosts cultural events. Mel Lastman stage/ amphitheatre is sunken, hemmed by the lengthy wall of the indoor pool, past the outdoor ping-pong tables. We attended the Korean Harvest Festival one weekend before Labour Day. There was tons of shellfish (clams, oysters), skewered beef and calamari. We bought chicken skewers ($5) and Korean bibimbap ($10) from the Uzbek-Kazak booth, by the Koreans who stir-fried carrots, chickpeas and beef rice in a giant wok. Little tykes would love it, since it’s mild—hot sauce is optional on the side. Bring a hat as there is very limited shade. Parking is on Beecroft near the Novotel hotel, or else across Yonge from Hollywood to the underground parkades at Hillcrest /Empress Ave.
