This is a vibrant upscale area with many bars, restaurants and shops. Among its other features, there is a nice park with a very large and ancient rock. On the day we were there a quartet played, making this public space particularly nice.

We had a family wedding and had several people staying at the Annex. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They arranged a great evening wine and appetizer reception on short notice. They offered to keep a wedding cake in the kitchen fridge for us. Always checking when we needed help with Uber or anything, Great free breakfast

Located in the bustling downtown area of Toronto,at the corner of Bloor Street West and Avenue Road, this little church was built in 1871 and is a Neo-Gothic building. It opened on June 15, 1879. Beautiful church, however not overly ornate. Very close to subway. In fact it looks a bit as if the surrounding modern buildings could choke a small church. Worth a visit when you are in the area.

"Damara Day Spa and Medical Aesthetics exceeded all my expectations with their Geneo X facial! The results were absolutely transformative—my skin looks radiant, refreshed, and I genuinely feel 10 years younger. The treatment was both relaxing and highly effective, and the staff were incredibly knowledgeable and attentive, ensuring every step was tailored to my needs. The luxurious atmosphere added to the experience, making it unforgettable. If you're looking for a facial that delivers real results, this is the place to go. I can’t recommend it enough!"

I was visiting Toronto from New York on a family trip. I wanted to buy a few gifts for my family. I read about Holt Renfrew on line and was excited to bring my family to the store. The store carries luxury items for the ladies. The men's store is down the street. The store is also under heavy renovations and it may be a tad intimidating entering the store but the store has a friendly doorman who was a great help. He waved to my child and gave us water. He also knew the city really well. I entered the store and purchased some perfume and a purse for my wife. My daughter did not want anything and I got off easy. This store is full of all major luxury brands and is a gemstone in a large city. I can imagine it will be fantastic after the construction. Staff are pros in all departments and very helpful. I will return.

On my tour of the galleries in Yorkville Loch Gallery was a great surprise! Beautiful space to showcase some amazing Canadian artists. I was very impressed with the selection of current as well as historic artists. The staff were so friendly and took the time to show us some pieces from an artist we favoured. They were so enthusiastic about there family owned business and how they are represented in Winnipeg and Calgary. They have a guest book where you can sign up for up coming shows and info from the gallery. A few hours later I received an email with my own login to Loch gallery, a place to have information on who I am and which artists I am interested in.

Lovely spa. Booking over the phone was a pleasure. You are provided with a locker, a great robe and slippers. The changing rooms are lovely and spacious, very clean. Lots of places to lounge. Lots of nice products provided - shampoo, conditioner, body wash, shaving cream, disposable razors. Amenities: The pool is a nice size and the room has lots of windows for natural light. The hot tub is big and spacious. There is a good size steam room, although we prefer eucalyptus steam because it seems less stuffy. Treatments: The spaces are professionally equipped. The staff are super helpful. Our massages were very good. RMTs, heated tables, aromatherapy, knowledgeable practitioners. My pedicure was very well done in a properly equipped nail room. The drawbacks? The food is quite expensive and the menu is limited to sandwiches and salads that we found pretty bland. For example my salad was not seasoned at all and the vinagrette had no taste. Also, the staff have client food orders but seem to have trouble locating clients to let them know their food is ready. We said we would be in the sunroom when we ordered our food for 1 p.m. but then had to go looking for it, because it was 20 minutes late. And by then of course, the warm items were cold. The person who was supposed to bring it to us, said she could not find us. We saw staff repeatedly searching for guests with their drink orders. Maybe set up a table or a bar where guests can pick things up and staff don't have to look everywhere? It's a spa, so people tend to move around. The oat or granola squares in the change room were also awful. And the price was high. For two massages, one deluxe pedi and a full day using the pool and hot tub and lunge rooms was about $850.00 for the two of us. You can get RMT receipts for the massages if you have benefits, but your benefit company may cap what they will pay per treatment. Overall, it's the nicest spa we have been to in Toronto, better than the Elmwood or Body Blitz. And we cannot say enough nice things about the staff who are really lovely!

Established in 1962, Mira Godard Gallery is one of Canada's most important commercial galleries. There are three floors of space featuring paintings, sculpture, prints and photographs. Currently they are featuring Colin Fraser, who does beautiful land and cityscapes.

While visiting Canadian friends with some friends from home, we went on daytrips to Toronto twice. On this trip, we toured the Financial District first, then headed west into Yorkville Village.

After viewing the nearby historic 1907 Yorkville Branch of Toronto Public Library, we stopped here. There is large historic info board telling all about the history of Eastern Sound Studio.

The original studio, dating from 1959, was located in two Victorian Bay-and-Gable houses on this site. It was a center of the counter-culture movement of that era. A lot of recording studios were in this area. Many famous musicians, including Isaac Hayes, Cat Stevens, and others recorded there in the 60’s and 70’s.

Elton John recorded his album “Blue Moves” there in 1976.

Anne Murray recorded her Grammy Award-winning song “You Needed Me” there.

Gordon Lighfoot’s album “Sundown” was recorded there in 1974.

The Jeff Healey Band did an interview there in 1988 with Terry Mulligan.

After Eastern Sound merged with Manta Sound, the studio changed its name to Manta Eastern Sound and moved there in 1991. The houses were later demolished.

For its historic value, we rate the site of Eastern Sound Studio at 4.0. The info board itself was quite nice for a historic marker.

Located just 2 streets up from the Royal Ontario Museum, this was an easy place to find. It is a small gallery on Yorkville that has been around since 1983. They feature contemporary fine art ranging from original paintings, photography, sculptures and limited edition prints.

If you are a fan, this is a nice diversion esp seeing some work that is not tied to his children's book (though they have that also) and a bit more mature in theme. For me, this is a gallery I would check out out if they are featuring the work of someone I am interested in (like Dr Suess) but if this is your style, it is a nice clean store.

They have the Art of John Lennon coming in February.

I was so impressed with their collection of art. Some of there historical pieces are exceptional. The gallery itself is very quaint. The art is displayed randomly throughout the gallery in unique spots. The staff were friendly and allowed us to view the work without interruption.

Walked into a beautiful space, saw pretty stuff on the walls. Then discovered that they do "larger print runs of limited edition art" (I am quoting their brochure). Perfect for your new condo.

While visiting Canadian friends with some friends from home, we went on daytrips to Toronto twice, using the GO Train from Aldershot Train Station in Burlington. The train took us into Union Station which is in a section of the Financial District in Downtown Toronto on Front Street.

After visiting the Toronto Dominion Gallery of Intuit Art, Brookfield Place, and the Design Exchange, we headed for Sud Forno on Temperance for lunch.

From the Financial District, we headed out toward the Yorkville Village area, a mixed area or residential, retail, office buildings. Some upscale retailers were out that way.

The first important building our Canadian friends brought us to was the Yorkville Branch of the Toronto Public Library. It was built in 1907 with a grant from the Carnegie Corp.

It‘s an important piece of architecture. It’s the Toronto Public Library’s oldest building It was designed in the opulent Beaux Arts style by city architect Robert McCallum.

It’s made of yellow brick made with Ohio sandstone. This construction material is common in public buildings in Canada.

If the building were larger, it would have been more impressive. It’s a worth a stop to admire it en route to other sections of Yorkville.

As piece of architecture, we rate the Yorkville Branch of the Toronto Public Library at 3.75.
