- AnLil936 contributionsSherway Garden is an underrated mall. It might be smaller than Square One, but it’s not as noisy or chaotic. Yorkdale is more accessible by transit, but Sherway Garden has a lot going for it inside. The restaurants and food court may be one factor, below, which makes it a better meeting place than Shops at Don Mills, Eaton’s Centre, Hillcrest, or Fairview. I like the cleanliness of Sherway Garden, which seems to attract more seniors (not as many as Bayview Village), compared to Yorkdale. It has a Sephora (& Mac) like Fairview and a wide range of mid- to high-priced stores like Yorkdale (H&M, Harry Rosen, Tory Burch/Kate Spade, namebrand accessories); British folks would like this mall. It didn’t have as much in terms of interior decor and mom appeal…but it’s much better and bigger than Centerpoint or Shoppes on Steeles for meeting friends. I prefer parking at P3 outside HBC where it’s calmer beside the Bay entrance. There’s also parking in front of Joey’s, freshii, Cactus Club, and Keg’s. Although Yorkdale food court has a mostly unused patio, I like how airy Sherway feels; its upper food court that was added with skylight wraps around Sporting Life/Gap to the new Indigo location, which has an excellent kids’ books section. (It makes up for the lack of a theatre.) I didn’t see as much bubble tea offered; but there’s Cookies and Amaya facing Chipotle or Bourbon Grill, near the escalators to the sushi bar. Stores are being introduced downstairs by Crepe de licious, which is another healthy alternative, unless you need gluten-free options like Thai and Jimmy the Greek’s. The one down side of Sherway is its figure 8 layout, which can be difficult for people who tend to get lost. If you need a pay-stroller, park in the South-side (rear) by the Shoppers Drug Mart and ask at the Customer Service Desk for directions. Dads might be obliging to offer teens a ride, so they can head across N. Queensway to check out Home Depot. There’s something for the whole family around Queensway or the QEW if you’re patient enough to walk & look. Sherway is conveniently situated between Mississauga and Etobicoke (Kipling-Dundas miway in Toronto). I would recommend Sherway Garden as a place to enjoy on a rainy day, but don’t expect a simple map /layout on your first visit. Meet friends and have fun shopping without the stress!Written September 15, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AnLil936 contributionsHumber Bay Park is separated into two parts by water. It’s a good place for kids to cycle and take photos, nearer Toronto’s iconic CN Tower than Jack Darling Park in Mississauga. Like a peninsula, there’s things to see on the East; but more available pay parking is on the West drive of Humber Bay. It’s adjacent to private Marina Del Ray (2261 Lakeshore Blvd West) and the Ukrainian Consulate. Photo opps are good on this quiet side; there’s more sand and nature scenes on the East park by the Air India memorial at the end of Park Lawn Road, where public washrooms in Starbucks and Tim Horton’s are open a short drive North above the Expressway exits. You’ll pass the Butterfly Habitat on foot by the West side of the park and long stretch /boardwalk in the direction of Humber Bay Arch Bridge (towards downtown). If you’re lucky you can snag a picnic table; but there are benches along the path. It would be a good idea to arrange a place to meet ahead with friends before beach volleyball season takes over. Or pack a blanket and sit anywhere to enjoy the view!Written July 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - kelvin77720 contributionsNice place for young kids up to 10 years old. Get the deal from wagjag or Groupon. There are many rides that are fit for kids such as small drop zone, train ride, carousel. Go before noon to go onto more rides before it gets real busy. It is inside the mall so there is food court to buy and eat there.Written September 1, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - baroomMississauga, Canada3,236 contributionsAfter lunch at Pho Ngoc Yen, our group travelled the short distance to Centennial Park Conservatory & Greenhouse in a two-car convoy. We arrived around 1:20pm and conveniently found 2 adjacent empty parking spots in the parking lot to the left of the conservatory. Centennial Park is a popular picnic spot so we were lucky we got to park easily in the early afternoon of a holiday (Victoria Day). Parking is free of charge.
Admission to Centennial Park Conservatory is free of charge as well. Double entrance is at the front of the glass-enclosed greenhouse, behind the flagpole. The conservatory is open every day, including holidays, from 10am to 5pm. A sign says last entry is at 4:45pm. Separate male and female multi-stall washrooms are located in the premises. There is even a water bottle refill station and drinking fountain.
We spent 40 mins exploring the small conservatory looking at assorted tropical plants, trees, flowers and succulents. Not every plant on display is labelled. One of the plants we found interesting had curly green and yellow leaves which I’m sure I’ve never seen before. We also saw a Philippine lemon tree with massive, overripe calamansi fruit hanging on the branches. A staffer was busy working at one end of the greenhouse.
Since it is warm inside, it is best to wear light clothing. Do bring a hat as the glass roof lets in sunlight in abundance. Plenty of bench seating for short stops or photo ops.
We spent the rest of the afternoon at the wooden pergola outside the conservatory where a huge tree provided welcome shade. Frogs living in the small pond regularly chimed in while our group conversed nonstop.Written June 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
