What travellers are saying
- Juan Pablo ISt. John's, Canada51 contributionsI visited the marked just to take a peek with no intention of buying anything, which I accomplished. I wish I had though, because everything looked so fresh and tasty. Lots of options of meat, vegetables, jams and other local products. There is a couple of places to sit down and have a meal or just a coffee. The ambiance is quiet and cozy, although it can get busy at times.Written November 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BernieVancouver, Canada991 contributionsRÉSO, lovingly known as the Underground City (or La ville souterraine in French), is a fantastic part of downtown Montreal! This vibrant network connects office buildings, hotels, shopping centers, residential areas, convention halls, universities, and art venues, making it the heart of the city’s central business district.
If you love shopping, you’re in for a treat! The Montreal Underground City features a wonderful variety of shops, delightful food courts, and plenty of amenities, all in a cozy, weather-proof environment. Getting around is a breeze since it’s super convenient to access the subway and various connections. The food court is especially exciting, offering an upscale array of tasty options that will satisfy any craving. Whether you want to shop, grab a bite, or just enjoy a leisurely stroll, this underground gem has everything you need for a fun and comfy day.
Visiting the Underground City is a must when you’re in Montreal! Just a little tip: be sure to bring along a good map—it can get quite confusing down there, but trust us, it’s completely worth the adventure! The market was straightforward to get to via Uber from the downtown, a block away from Lachine Canal at the south end of Little Burgundy. The exterior of the market was filled with fresh flowers and plantings for gardening season, as well as a multitude of farmers with their produce. The physical market building was filled with charcuteries, bakeries, butchers, fromageries...we had trouble on our second trip with where to buy from, as the selections were plentiful and enticing!Written June 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It has a large Double Tree hotel connected to it, as well as some large office buildings. There’s a huge food court with lots of restaurants in it on the lower level, but if you go during lunch be prepared for long lines due to all the offices nearby. There are many stores, mostly women’s clothing stores.
There are other restaurants nearby and attached as well and they offer full service.Written February 13, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You can easily access it through the Underground City, which connects to the Montreal Metro’s McGill station. This lively mall is the gateway to the famous underground city and features a wide variety of stores spread across five levels. Plus, you’ll find plenty of dining and entertainment options to enjoy during your visit!
I had such a great time at this modern mall! It’s spacious, clean, and offers a wonderful mix of shops to explore. Shopping through the multi-level stores was a lot of fun!Written November 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We bought few pieces for reasonable price and the experience was a 5 stars
It's like an open museum, little in an underground basement. The paintings are really colourful, with a big variety of styles: from abstract to surrealist in passing by impressionist artworks. We can say it's a contemporary art gallery without being too codified, it's really approachable without being too pop art. I'll say that the curators make a good job and really made this place a Montreal gem 💎
They have an other gallery on the Plateau with the art studios upstairs which look super cool, but I didn't have the time to go during my tripWritten February 23, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The flat water reflecting fountain is an engineering marvel and is the perfect foil for the antique carved fountain figure. I would love to know who designed this space.Written October 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Thomas VOakland, CA19,431 contributionsA vertical shopping mall in the middle of downtown that emphasizes fashion, with the inclusion of a fashion show space in the atrium. - FoodangeManchester, UK4,933 contributionsThe church was free to enter but then there were charges if you wanted to visit the museum so we decided we’d seen enough of old Montreal.
Still worth visiting this cute church with some amazing stained glass windows.
Not sure why this is under shopping here, it’s a church and museum!Written December 8, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
